How long does authorization take?

Recommended Posts

I think everyone of us felt the same. My six months ended up going 9 due to doctors schedules. I will say I got approval within 24 hours once my info was submitted to insurance but the time leading up to that was very frustrating. I used that time to begin developing very good behaviors.

The mandatory 6 month period was absolutely brutal, but once the preauth was submitted, it only took two days for BCBS OR to approve.

I have UHC too, and thought the same thing. Six months is going to take forever!! In two weeks I'll have my 5th weigh in. One more month, and they will be submitting it to insurance for approval!

I had to schedule an appt. with a cardiologist - who required three tests. Had two psych appointments, a sleep study, pulmonary appt., along with my regularly scheduled doctor supervised appts.

With all of these appointments, time has flown by! Trust me - I'm really antsy to get these appointments done! But am taking it one day at a time!

I've used a lot of this time to do research on everything from surgery to what Protein drinks to buy. This time has helped me to focus on eating right, I've cut out a lot of junk food, and have even got my husband wanting to eat healthier!

And you can't go wrong being on this forum! Everyone on this site have been so great with any questions I have had! I've learned so much!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
