I got a call on Wednesday from the insurance person at the Dr. office. I figured it was to tell me she was ready to submit the application, even though we had to wait 3 months for supervised WL. Turns out she was calling to tell me she had already submitted and it's been approved! I was flabbergasted! I figured I would have to finish the SWL and then submit at the very end of May. Then hope to have surgery by July!

Today, I got the call from the scheduler and I am scheduled for Monday May 4! I have my pre-op appointment/class on April 15, so I will know more then. I do know that I will NOT have to do a 2 week liquid diet, only 24 hours. :)

So I had mentally prepped for July, not early May (like 5 weeks). I am trying to wrap my head around this, I know I "want" to do this, but now actually having the guts to go through it... that's a different story. I have never had surgery before and it's making me nervous.

Little back ground: Have Cigna insurance; Did weight watchers continually (and still do) for 4 years; had mental health counseling a couple years ago for WL; currently on Contrave (new WL drug).

Thank you! I am trying to decide if I should tell my mom and sister. Sister had VSG done 9 weeks ago in TJ, and is trying to show how "bad" the diet is and that I won't be able to handle it. I think here is jealousy since my insurance is paying... Ugh.

Hello - I just found out today that my surgery is also May 4th ! I am so excited, and nervous too. I went to the first group informational meeting in Dec. So I am pretty pleased with the time frame.

I will have some pre-op testing and meet with the Dr again in about 2 wks. I think I d have to do a liquid diet for about a week.

good luck to both of us. Let's track our progress on here.

Did your surgeon have you stop Contravene before surgery? If so, how many days/weeks before surgery? I want to wean myself off the drug. My surgery date is Oct 15th.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
