What is everyone using besides Biotin for significant thinning of hair? ? Prior to surgery I had very thick hair, 3 months out from surgery, my family and I are noticing. I think it's scaring my family as they are so unfamiliar with the changes and what to expect. I'm hoping others are experiencing this well??

I am still losing hair and still taking Biotin, I don't know of anything else. I do know, though, that new hair is growing in as I have these little awkward baby hairs coming in. I am 5 months post-op, I didnt start noticing until month 4.

I'm thinning and noticing many strays as I comb my hair after shower or when I go to gym and adjust my pony tail. It's becoming visible in certain pictures as well...

My cousin had thyroid issues and thinning with her hair, Biotin has not worked for either of us. She is finding some relief with this Shampoo called hair food, I however have not. Just curious if anyone else had suggestions..?

Biotin will not prevent the Hair loss. Biotin will however help the new hair as it grows in to be healthier.

Hair loss is a side effect of Anesthesia. When it starts depends on your Hair growth cycle . I think the cycle is 90 days . If you google it you will understand it better. I have a thin spot on the top of my head and I use toppik Fiber spray to hide it . I don't like there other products. I got hair extensions but with thin hair you can Se the clips so I don't wear them. I'm a year out and the hair loss has slowed way down .

Biotin doesn't prevent the Hair loss, but it helps with new Hair growth. I lost lots of hair and there really isn't anything you can do about it but take your Vitamins and biotin to help new hair grow.

The one thing that makes me nervous as I am not the best at caring for my hair. I have been taking Biotin for the last six months and am only about 2 weeks post op. Thinking I may resume Biotin along with daily Vitamins. I've heard your hair will grow back, but I am sure it's pretty alarming. Good luck.

I would check with your doctor to make sure he is okay with you taking Biotin. If he is, he may be able to provide you with a script or you can order them online or OTC in a local pharmacy. I've also heard of something called hair infinity. I am thinking about trying it myself to reduce Hair loss and maximize Hair growth. Waiting to check with my doc.

I had long hair and wore it in a ponytail most days. I realized that all the tangles and the ponytail were making my Hair loss really bad. I had my hair cut three weeks ago to a much shorter style. While I'm still losing hair, I'm not losing as much. I'm not pulling it back with clips and ponytail holders and it doesn't need brushing as often, all things that were contributing to the loss

I saw my surgeon on Wednesday. According to him, Biotin does not regrow hair. It does help with Hair loss, skin health and stronger nails. Taking it may help. It may not help either. I was told to start at a low dose and increase slowly.

I am 6 months post op and I have been losing hair since the very beginning. At first it was thyroid related. ( too much Synthroid given my weight loss). I have been told that it should stop at 6 months. I am there and it continues to fall out at a fast rate every single day. I have lost 2/3 of my hair volume. The good news is I am Italian and had very very thick hair. I have been taking Biotin for my months, it does help with regrowth as I see short hairs coming in, I am just losing at a much faster rate it seems. I am ready for it to stop falling out now that I am at six months. Hope it happens soon or I start to freak out a little. I expected it up to this point so I have dealt with it.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
