I want to switch to the sleeve and still have questions. Why does everyone have so much trouble drinking the first few weeks after surgery?

And, you do not get sick/dehydrated only taking in a glass or two of liquids a day?

With gastric bypass, your stomach goes to being extremely small, so too much liquid at once wouldnt go down so smoothly, everything is kind of in a healing process , so after a week or two it gets easier to swallow. You also should be sipping

On liquids all day long (baby sips) if you don't continue to sip then you will become dehydrated. Once you start to feel better things fall into place

Sorry I didn't see the sleeve part, I'm not sure if it's difficult to drink with the sleeve but it is a little difficult with the bypass in the beginning

You just have to baby sip, that's the only way to get through it, before baby sipping I would just take bigger sips and deal with the cramps Because I was so thirsty but then I just did tiny sips all the time and eventually It just got easier . The first week sucks so bad

Yes it sugar free, I can only drink 1 oz of it tho, I really didn't drink pops so I don't have that craving,

I did not know there was sugar apple juice. Whats the brand name and where can I get it?

It would have to be sugar free , unless your diabetic . If I drink anything with sugar i could get dumping syndrome. I've only been wanting ice cold Water though, although I'm missing diet Pepsi like crazy

Why can someone who is diabetic have sugar after surgery and not get dumping syndrome?

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
