Recommended Posts

Tomorrow will be 4 weeks since my Rouen y surgery. I've lost 22 pounds and feel fabulous about it BUT that was in the first two weeks. The scale has not moved since!! What am I doing wrong?????

Yes, I have experienced the same thing. Make sure to get all your Water (64oz) and get in lots of Protein and exercise.

That happened to me. Huge weight loss when I went back for my first visit and then nothing for a couple weeks. Many people refer to a 3 week stall. However, mine started the second week. Either way, if you are getting in your Protein and Water things are happening. You will see weight loss. I don't know all of the scientific reasons why the body holds on to weight like it does and then suddenly releases it. Truth be told, I am not sure the doctors fully understand it either. LOL! Anyway, focus on the Water and Protein and avoid the scales for a few days and then go back to them. They will start moving in the right direction. Good luck!

jencooper we are twins! I am 4 weeks post RNY - lost 20 lbs by the 2nd week but nothing since and I am 4 weeks out as of yesterday. Its really frustrating. I just hope when the body releases the weight it releases 10 lbs at a time. :) How long does this "stall" typically last? Isnt this too soon to stall?

I appreciate all the feedback. I was thinking I was doing something wrong. I know I will have stalls but I thought this was too soon????

I hit an unbelievable stall at about 3 weeks, it seemed like I was eating nothing, but the scale would not move. I stopped watching the scale, worked really hard a getting in my water/protein and after almost 3 weeks the numbers started going down. I am now 14 weeks post op and down 65 lbs. my only advice is stop watching the scale and get in those liquids, it works, it really works.

I guess we are all in the same boat...I am also 4 weeks post op and dealing with a stall as well...I was also thinking the same thing, that this was to early to be dealing with a stall...but now I see it fooled me....But I am reading and listening to others about getting my Proteins in, my Water and upping my exercise...Hopefully we all will be out of this stall very soon.. I wish everyone the best...

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
