1 week post-op issues

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone, I'm M/31, and I am 1 week post op today. I am experiencing a lot of fatigue, and severe muscle aches early morning and late evening. The fatigue I assumed was normal, but I'm concerned about the muscle pain. It feels like the body aches from a flu. Anyone experience this?

I'm taking 3 Bariatric Fusion Meal Replacement shakes a day, plus 2 BF Multivitamins. In trying to drink 8 oz of Water every 1-2 hours, but I know I'm falling short.

@@Elode I also find Water more difficult to drink than say, G2 Gatorade, or flat ginger ale.

Yes Water can be hard I drink it better with something in it too. Do you like coconut water? I drank coconut water in the beginning stages because it's a Super hydrator @@FloridaSleeveGuy it's high in potassium and low in carbs it hydrates better than plain water and doesn't have the sodium like sports drinks.< /p>

I just saw my dietician today, and have asked her about getting in more Water. Her recommendation was to add the Water Enhancer drops to ALL the water I drink, because for some reason my body just doesn't want it (plain water) and has difficulty taking it without it. The weird thing is I LOVE plain water! Go figure! She is right, though; I am able to drink more with the enhancer drops than without. And I am 3+months out. Good luck to you!

i used propel fitness Water to help when i had to pretty much never drank plain Water. Just had my 3 month checkup today and everything is going great. So theres nothing wrong with drinking water like products just be careful about sugars etc. but it seems you are so goo for you and keep going it does get easier

Great advice everyone. I'll head to the store tomorrow and try some propel and get some crystal light drops as well. My body seems to be unhappy with the plain Water the way some of yours are.

I'm 3 months post surgery and I am just starting to tolerate plain Water. I had to add a little something to my water. The things I used was diet cranberry juice, propel, Vitamin water, Bai 5, sobe water, G2. Just make sure they are low calorie or sugar free. My early fatigue was from not enough Protein and water. It got better. Using my food journal was helpful and necessary. Best of luck

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
