Hi everyone! I've been a "lurker" for a couple months reading everything I can about the sleeve journey. This is my first "real" post. My surgery is scheduled for April 2nd and I'm both excited and terrified, all at the same time. I've been over weight my entire adult life, and most of my family is overweight and suffer from a variety of weight related health issues. I have sleep apnea, high blood pressure and have been doing what I refer to as the "pre-diabetes dance" for the last year or so with my rising and falling A1C. I am so excited for what lies ahead of me, and so encouraged by all the positive stories others have shared.

I am so excited to share our journeys! I'm honestly terrified of the actual surgery, but I know the my fears are just because I've never had surgery before. I had my appointment with a nutritionist yesterday and am working on my grocery list to start gathering everything I may need when I come home after surgery. I am so thankful that my fiancé is being really supportive - last night when we were going through all the post surgery diet phases, he says he's going to do as much as he can of it with me, which I completely appreciate, but would never expect him to do!

Anyone else nervous?? I start my pre-surgery diet in a couple weeks and am more concerned that will be more challenging than after surgery.

I'm nervous too - one of my big fears is losing a lot of hair, but I know it will all be worth it in the end. I so feel some relief at having made the decision to move forward with this. Now, I am ready to face the future and all of the adventures that it may hold.

Susie..... hair cycles.... but if you get your Protein in and take Biotin, no worries. My doc says use sea band products if you have nausea. Annie...... I can't wait to hear about your post surgical experience!

I'm scheduled for 3 April. I'm getting nervous. Has anyone started shopping for their liquids and soft food?

I'm scheduled for surgery on April 2nd and started my pre-op diet on Monday. Technically it was to begin 7-10 days before surgery, but I went with 10 because I have a fatty liver and figured it couldn't hurt, right?! So far I'm doing okay with it... I like the Premier Protein shakes. I've had both the chocolate and vanilla... Let me rephrase that, I don't LIKE them, but I tolerate them. I don't really drink milk or anything shaky normally, so it's more of a texture thing than taste. My fiancé loves them! Has anyone tried the nectar powders in Water?

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
