How long did your hair fall out?

Recommended Posts

My hair has finally started to shed. Nothing too horrible...yet. Just really annoying! I had a cute hair style picked out but opted to order extensions instead. I'm not upset by it, I knew it was going to happen so I'm not shocked. I've decided to look at it as my internal "fat" girl and "skinny" girl are fighting. One of them is fighting dirty and pulling hair out!! I'm betting on the skinny girl to win the fight in the end! Ha! So if you lost hair how long did it last?

I think the hair loss lasted about 6 weeks for me.

Edit to add: my hair still falls out now but the really drastic period of Hair loss where it was like clumps of hair lasted like 6 weeks

I haven't had any hair loss yet. I was wondering when most people start experiencing Hair loss. If the cause is from the stress of surgery, then it should have happened by now.

I've reduced shampooing my hair to once a week. It may sound gross to some, but its not too bad if you use dry Shampoo in between washings. Also, I've stopped pulling it back as often. My hair has stayed long the past three years as a way of hiding myself because I was ashamed of my obesity. It would be quite freeing to cut it into a different style.

This is the one thing I am really concerned about. None yet and I am 3 months out. I do wash my hair less and I give myself a warm coconut oil treatment once a week (wet hair, pour on melted coconut oil, wait 20 minutes, and then shower and wash hair). I'm hoping I get lucky on this one!

Mine started coming out at 4 months and kept coming out for another 8 months, and stopped at a year post op. Coincidentally, that's when I started increasing my calories and weight loss slowed. It's taken another year to recover. Almost all my hair is back now, but not all of it.

I think I had a worse case scenario because I didn't have thick hair to start with, I had a lot of weight to lose, and I have to eat super small calories to lose, and I'm past 50 and post-menopausal. That's a lot of things working against me! I never missed a Vitamin or a day of getting Protein in, and I took Biotin, too.

Mine just started falling out about 4 months out its been about 3 weeks of when I play with my hair, comb it or even just look at my shirt I see my hair falling out. I already have thin hair so its concerning, but I knew this could be a side effect.

@@WL WARRIOR I'm not sure what actually causes it. I'm almost 4 months out and I've been getting 90+ grams of Protein in since week 2. I eat 800 calories a day, never miss a Vitamin including Biotin since even before surgery, I drink at least 64 oz of Water a day....I don't know what else I could have done?

@@sunflowerchild So did it start out a little and get worse or all pretty much the same?

I had very thick hair so my hair would always fall out but it felt like pretty sudden that I noticed it falling out a lot. Every time i would brush my hair the entire brush would be filled with my hair. It was out of control. I cut off 12 inches after dealing with it for a month or 2 and then it seemed to get a lot better. Now I have more of an average amount of hair so it didn't wind up turning out too bad for me.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
