Is this normal

Recommended Posts

I was sleeved on 2/2. I lost 10lbs on the week long preop diet, then 10 lbs the week after surgery, and I've stalled ever since. Not lost one more lb. I'm getting in quite a bit of Protein and usually 60 grams a day. I do very well with the shakes, scrambled eggs, cottage cheese etc...however, I I don't get near what I need to for my Water intake. Maybe that's it. It tastes ok, I just can't get it down. I've not thrown up one time, never been nauseated, and had a great recovery. I'm very thankful for all that and just wondering it this is a stall or maybe something else. Also, I get that 20 lbs in a month is awesome!! Just worried thats it????Any thoughts?

My story is very similar to yours. My surgery was just before yours on 1/26. I've had no complications whatsoever. I'm able to get in my Protein (I've actually found Protein shakes that I really enjoy). And I'm not the greatest at getting in my minimum ounces of Water a day. My weight loss has been slower than I expected. I've rec'd a lot of negative comments about my disappointment in my slow weight loss. I'm grateful for every pound I've lost so far, I was just taken back b/c I assumed I would loose a lot more IN THE BEGINNING. I would say not to worry and be patient. (easier said then done I know). I haven't reached any "stalls" yet that I've been reading about from other sleevers but I'm trying to get mentally ready for them. Good luck to you!

Thank you! I'm sure it's normal, just hard to eat this little and not see the scale move at all. I'm sure it will get in gear and we probably shouldn't worry about the dumb scale anyway:) Good Luck to you, I'm sure you will do great!

you will have several stalls its normal! I hit one at 3 wks..it took a few wks to start in again the body is adjusting to the chaos we did to it! its in shock ! Iv been thru 3 stalls in 7 months...I still have a hard time getting in 64 oz of Water everyday. I do what I can an I do work hard on getting Protein an its my priority. everything else is secondary. hang in there! it will start moving again...it works!

Yep! Normal! I lost 10 pre-op, then 17 the first two weeks post-op. (I only weighed at my appts.) So I go for my one month appt and I had only lost 4 more pounds. I collapsed into tears in the doctor's office. LOL! Everybody came running and they were hovering like helicopters. (I think hysterical patients are scary to them.) Anyway, I got a grip after a while and kept plodding forward (as if I had a choice!) So I am now 5 months out and 80 lbs down. Bottom line: don't compare yourself to anyone, don't stress, it's going to be great.

It is hard when you see so many people post how quickly they are losing. I had revision surgery 2/4 - no pre-op diet and have only lost 11 pounds. I'm starting to get scared to face the scale and keep thinking I should stay off Bariartic Pal so as not to get frustrated reading about everyone's success but at the same time I need it to see I'm not alone

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
