Okay so here I am, two weeks post op and I lost 20 lbs so far thank G-d! I'm 21 years old and mother to one toddler. I need to lose 200 lbs so I know it will be a long journey... I was 180 pounds three years ago, since I'm tall and broad I was not fat but also not skinny. Then I became pregnant and gained 64 lbs...after my baby I tried losing weight. I tried OA, the blood type diet, Atkins...my problem was I would diet binge diet binge diet binge...so for every pound I lost I gained two...one year and a hundred pounds later I started thinking of surgery. I have a lap band , and am ready for the next chapter of my life!

I have had no problems with my band and I am close to my goal. But I always come here for information and inspiration. It is motivating for me to see everyone's success.

Don't worry about how much you have to lose. Set small goals and before you know it, you'll see a real difference. I lost more than 150 lbs. and I've been banded two years. Look for those non-scale victories. You'll find plenty and that will help you even if the scale does not go down. In fact, stay away from the scale for a while. It's better that way. Good luck and welcome to the site.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
