Wow! Did not know you could return Protein powder/shakes! That is great!

I'm glad I am not the only one who can't stand Bariatric Advantage/Fusion.

Do you get the PE science from GNC/Vitamin Shoppe? I will have to look for it.

My local Vitamin Shoppe did it for me once but said they aren't supposed to for "flavored" Protein powders for what it's worth

I can't stand any ready made except Atkins and I don't like its stats so k save it for coffee Creamer and emergencies.

I love the Syntrax matrix line (esp Peanut Butter cookie) and the BSN Syntha 6 (esp the mochaccino and orange cream)

My Vitamin shoppe takes them back for credit. Maybe they are independently owned and each makes there own rule. I always ask can I return especially Protein powders. GNC you have 30 days to return of course both place you need a receipt. I am sure GNC and the Vitamin Shoppe has me on a watch list for all the returns :)

@disneydreamer I get the PE science at the Vitamin shop. You can order on the internet as well. They have a new flavor called Blondie...suppose to be better than snickerdoodle, I haven't tried it yet.

The Unjury chicken broth is fantastic. And to spice up without oversweetening my premier shakes I've used a variety of extracts (lemon chocolate and chocolate mint are the best).

I've been trying to find the right Protein shake for after my surgery, although I have heard tastes will change after surgery. What I can tell you is that the Permier Protein shakes from Walmart are pretty good and high in Protein. But still has that 'protien drink' taste. I also tried both powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury chocolates, and although they are very good (especially as a hot chocolate!!) it still has that taste. But the Unjury chicken Soup is delicious and doesn't taste funny!!! And the Unjury strawberry sorbet is delicious!!! But I agree.....I would recommend you get the sample packs so you can make up your own mind! I haven't tried the vanilla or the unflavored yet, but I have the samples so I'll have to try it eventually! I plan on putting the unflavored into my delicious garlic soup!!! :)

Good luck to you!

Maria

I like the Pure Protein in vanilla cream also. I found several that I liked prior to surgery and then hated them after.

I wanted something not chocolate, vanilla or strawberry. I went to Nashua Nutrition and they sell samples of TONS of brands and flavors. My favorites are the Syntrax for the kool aid type flavors.

I also have liked the Isopure premade stuff -- like kool aid as well and 40 g Protein in one bottle!

#1 premier Protein chocolate

#2 Premier Protein strawberry

They are $25 for 18 pack at costco, but they regularly have $5 bucks off specials.

#3 - really can't stand any others to drink but I do use Syntrax nectar vanilla bean to make Protein pancakes and a few other creative solutions

Syntrax is a good product, but it does not satiate me and mixed with Water does not taste that great to drink. Mixed with milk it suddenly becomes high carb so it just doesn't suit me.

I've sampled a lot through them and found some of my faves that way! I still like to order some that way for ones I like but don't want a whole tub of... Good for on the go and to keep in the car too!

My doctor wants me to use Bariatric Advantage until a month after surgery. I bought the vanilla and I add different things like a little frozen fruit, coffee( latte) or unsweetened cocoa or extracts(banana is my favorite) my doctor allows almond milk as well so it's makes it creamy so it's not too bad.

I don't get docs that push a certain brand...makes me suspicious that they are making money off of it somehow, esp since in reality, it doesn't matter - just so the stats are there

I prefer the unjury chocolate Splendor (+ malted milk powder), Vanilla and strawberry blended with SILK Unsweetened Soymilk + artificial sweetener.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
