Does anyone else have issues taking Vitamins? I have the Celebrate Bariatric Multi-Vitamin chewables. Every time I take one I literally get nauseous and start throwing up like 3-4 minutes later. This isn't the first time I've had this problem with multi-vitamins. I've had this problem with various vitamins in the past before I ever thought about surgery. Has anyone else ever had this problem and does anyone have any suggestions on how to stop this from happening?

Morning from the snow covered state of Connecticut.

I love taking my Vitamins. I use Centrum chewable twice a day (one in the morning/one at night). I also take chewable Calcium twice a day (one in morning/one in evening). My Vitamin B-12 is not chewable, so I break it up in 1/2 and take one at 630 am and the other a 7 am just because I take with milk and fills me up quickly. My sister takes a B-12 that is disolvable under the tongue.

I do not do the Bariatric because of the fact that many were getting nauseous on them. Try the above. They are great tasting and easy on stomach.

Hopefully this helps.

Have a sparkling day.

Annamarie

I take the Celebrate chewables too and have no problem. I tried switching to pills and those made me nauseous, so I went back to the chewables. Maybe try another brand that makes gummies? Per my surgeon's instructions I take two multi-vits a day - one with Iron and the other without. I take Celebrate chewables with Iron and buy the other one I get at the drug store - vitafusion multivites. The gummies are easier on my palette for sure. Not sure if the quality is as good, but at my 6-month check up all my Vitamin levels were checked and everything was perfect. Just make sure you get iron too! Wish you luck finding something that works.

Thanks. I will try the Centrum chewables. How many times do you take it a day? I have separate Iron and Calcium that I'm taking also.

Centrum chewable is One in the Morning and One in the Afternoon/evening whichever is better for you. Only 2 per day.

The Calcium Chewable (GNC) is the same way.

My Vitamin B-12 I breakup because it is too bid and I take 1/2 hour apart till the one pill is swallowed.

If you are taking an Iron pill also, just make sure you won't be taking too much if you use the Centrum chewables.< /p>

I had just mentioned this in another thread a few days ago, but chose not to call out the brand. I ordered those SAME vitamins at the suggestion of my Nutritionist, but they did the same to me. The nausea usually only lasted 5-6 minutes after each Vitamin, but I hated the feeling and ditched them.

Like others have suggested, switch up to something else and keep trying things until you can find the one you tolerate the best. Good luck!

I couldn't take those chewables, got sick everytime. I then tried the Chewy bites and also got sick. I'm now taking Wellesse liquid Multivitamin (after a horrible Source of Life Liquid) that tastes fine and I tolerate well. My Dr did recommend doubling the "dose" to ensure I reach my Vitamin intake.

Before you get Gummy Vitamins check with your doctor/NUT. I am not allowed gummy ones yet. I am only 2 weeks out. I didn't like the gummy ones pre-surgery so won't bother asking when I can use gummies.

I have the subligual B-12.

I don't know how cost effective they are but there are Vitamin Patches. Kinda like a nicotine patch.

I have run the Vitamin gamut the past four weeks. I started out on opurity and by Day 4, was throwing it up. Got switched to Flintstones chewables, only to find out I was allergic because I kept breaking out in hives randomly throughout the day. Was told by the doctor not to switch to a new Vitamin until this one worked its way out of my system. Then I started the Celebrate chewables and those just never sat right with me either and I hated the taste of the Centrum ones.

My doctor allowed me to start back on my birth control again for my PCOS this week and I have heard from numerous people on here that they were taking regular pills again by Week 2. I've started taking the Alive multivitamin for women that was recommended to me prior to surgery. The pill isn't too big.

I've also found Iron and B12 that are the size of a tic tac, so I've been taking those as well without an issue. The chewables just aren't okay for me and I suspect, you're the same. I totally get it and sympathize with you!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
