Impatiently waiting...June sleevers?

Recommended Posts

The most painful part for me the entire bed was how uncomfortable I was in the hospital bed lol like I'm more sore from that than the surgery itself

I had my surgery June 8. I was home the 10. Other then a little soreness I am doing great. The key was having a positive mindset. I was walking after surgery and felt good. To all you sleevers just stay positive remember why your doing it and it will be fine!!! Good luck and let me know your journeys too!!

@@Licia'sjourney Yay! so happy for you! How is the preop diet going for you? I was surprised how easy it has been for me so far :) But, this is just day 4!

Wow, lots of new people getting sleeved this month. Good luck to all of you and wishing you fast recoveries.

This last Monday I had the cardiac clearance then Tuesday I had the psych eval, nutritionist and then the preop class. And to day I had the EGD. After I woke up from the EGD the first thing I asked the nurse was if I had a hernia and she said no. OMG!! I immediately started crying. I cried for about 5-10 minutes thinking what am I gonna do now? How can I afford to do this without the help of getting the hernia repair paid by insurance. Then the doctor walked by a couple of times and then he asked me is the anesthesia getting to you? I said no, the nurse told me I didn't have a hernia! He said, yes you do, you had a big one, here's the picture of it. The nurse had misunderstood what I had asked!! Thank God I had one!! lol

I started my pre op diet yesterday and will have surgery 06/24. It is starting to get very real now and I am so excited!!

I had my sleeve done on 6/11/2015. I feel pretty good. Mine was a revision from the band and the spot that hurts the most is where my port was taken out. I am able to drink slowly. I am excited to be on the losers bench. I lost 25 pounds during my one month pre op diet so I am ready to keep going!!

@@chelleshocked - That's great that its been fairly easy for you!! It has been for me too but I seem to be getting hungrier as time goes by. I was already on very low carb for 5-6 months and then when I started eating the soups...well first can I just say yuk! lol I really wish I could just continue low carb and lower the fat but I don't want to mess with the protocol.

Usually by late afternoon I am watching the clock waiting for the yukky soup!!

I hope you continue to do well!

Good luck everyone. It seems that everyone that has been sleeved are doing really well!!

I know this question has been asked a zillion times but I want to ask all of you that are on the pre-op diet right now.

What Protein Drinks are you drinking now?

I drinking Premier Protein but I don't really like them that well. I can tell I am going to get pretty tired of them and quickly.

Hello...I've been ordering cases from Amazon.... I like Boost carb control and Atkins. Both have around 15 grams of Protein each and 160-180 calories. I drink about 5 per day, plus sf Greek yogurt, Tomato Soup, or sf pudding.< /p>

I don't know if this will help or confuse things, but my doctor said we should not use Boost or Atkins shakes because they tend to be higher in fat and lower quality protein. I use GNC brand protein, Cookies and cream is my favorite. I also use GNC's Lean shakes that a prepackaged, those are good too, I like the chocolate and strawberry flavors. My other favorite protein comes from a company called Proti or Proti-Wise (I think);I get the Proti-Max bottled Protein Powder that you add Water to, these are really delicious! Also Isopure protein, but their premise drinks defiantly taste funny. I mix them with sugar free lemonade or fruit punch. Obviously if your doctor is ok with Atkins shakes go right ahead, I really like the Atkins Cafe Caramel Shakes. I hope I have made this more confusing. Good Luck.

@@MarceMonster - Thanks for all of your suggestions! I will look those up and order some.

with the Isopure brand did you dilute them with Water first?

I have been drinking the Atkins shakes for years but knew I'm not supposed to drink them now. My favorite is the Royal chocolate. Its very chocolatey. So when I went from it to Premier man the Premier just does not come close. Plus the after taste is yucky. :)

Thanks again for your help!

@@Licia'sjourney I bought a sample pack of the unjury packets with all the flavors. I tried the chocolate yesterday with 1 cup fat free lactose free milk. It was delicious!! :). I do like the vanilla and strawberry Premiere though.

I don't know what's up, but I am still feeling fine on this preop diet. I have been dreading it for so long, but I haven't really felt deprived at all. I'm waiting for the day that I get really HANGRY! Lol

Had the last of my 3-month supervised diet appointments today! I've lost 27 pounds so far. :)

So that was it, the final step for my program. On Friday I meet the surgeon, they'll submit everything to insurance, and I'll hopefully get my date at that appointment!

Surgery on the 18th . . . Less than 48 hours away. Was on vacation so the pre op diet has been less than fun but knowing I'm almost there helps. Tomorrow is my liquid only day but surgeon says I can have Protein Shakes so I'm really not denying myself because they are filling and having broth in between helps. Ready to do this!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
