Feeling "normal"..........

Recommended Posts

I will be 4 months out this Monday, February 16th. I'm not sure how to describe this but I will try........

I was talking with my friend at work and when she asked me how I was doing I said GREAT, I feel like I am back to normal. After I said that I was thinking about it, what is normal??

Well normal for me anyway is feeling like a regular person, I don't feel like someone who had weight loss surgery. I know I had the weight loss surgery because of the restrictions in my new tummy but I feel different than I did a couple months ago. I am still tracking everything, my food, my liquids, Proteins, sugars etc. But I guess what I am not doing is obsessing or worrying about what I am eating. I am just living my life and it feels great!!!!

I just feel like this is my new "normal" I go to the gym a few times a week, I eat properly (most times), I am drinking all or more of my liquids everyday, and I am not on the sidelines looking at my life pass me by, I am an active participant in my life again. This is how I couldn't wait to feel and I am so happy!! I am looking forward to the rest of my life!!

I agree. You reach a point of new normal, definitely not the same normal you had pre-op. But most of the time you just live your life. Only when I am in certain situations, usually involving food, do I feel abnormal anymore. I feel healthy and I have enough energy to do my job and live my life. I rarely feel sick or uncomfortable. It's a vast improvement over the early days post-op!

Love what you wrote! I am 3 months out and starting to feel 'normal'. A new normal. I pay attention to what I eat, I enjoy picking out clothes to wear, and I'm finally past the fatigue stage. Cheers to the new normal!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
