Well, I've had cake and Cookies (fiber one cookies) and about three Hersey kisses. Haven't felt guilty yet. I didn't have this surgery to never eat these things, ever in my life again. I had the surgery to allow myself to have control over my eating. After a few bites of anything, I'm done! And my life goes on. I love the freedom of that. Before my surgery, I would be obsessed with eating the entire bag of candy or the WHOLE cake. Now I'm just not interested. Also, there are times sweets are presented to me and amazingly, I'm not interested. But if I am, I ask for a small piece, indulge and throw out the rest of it.

I've had cake, pie, Cookies and candy........all in very small amounts. As @@finediva said, I didn't have surgery to never eat sweet again. I had it so I can learn to control what I eat. And I have. I know I can't eat sweets every day and in the massive quantities that I did before surgery, but having a bite of my husbands dessert when we go out to dinner is just good for my mental health. I don't feel deprived AND I feel like I'm finally in control.

I'm in the same place as FineDiva and Mae7365. Because my new downsized tummy will tell me when I've had enough, it makes it easier to NOT over-indulge in the things that taste the best to me, i.e. crunchy, spicy, salty foods, but if I want something, I will take a bite or two and quit, and that includes the sweets/chocolates/etc. What I miss the most right now is being able to take more than just a sip of ice cold Water, and I would LOVE to have a Diet Coke, but carbonated beverages are not permitted per my surgeon, so I am doing my best to follow his instructions so I can (and will be) successful in this journey, but I also don't want to feel deprived food-wise.

I feel pretty much the same most on this thread do. I had surgery to use this tool to help me live a healthy, happy ,well balanced life. :)

I will be 4 months out on Monday and I have had bites of sweets. I'm not much of a sweets person but every once in awhile something just looks good, so I take a bite. I can do this because I know (1) I can't eat more than that and (2) I don't want to eat more than that.

Don't beat yourself up about it, you have to learn how to balance your eating. Don't feel like you have to deprive yourself of anything, unless your new tummy doesn't like it.

Mrssugarbabe I am no 4 months post op and started my lifestyle change about 2 1/2 months before surgery so about 6 months since I had a soda. I was a big diet Pepsi drinker - like 6 / 8 a day and I was at a school function and they only had soda, I tried a diet Pepsi and it tasted disgusting! Totally disgusting to me - you may not like diet coke if you get around to trying it :)

Had a bit of cheesecake, a little bit of brownie, and 2 blue Hawaiian's on vacation and felt perfectly fine about it! Logged it, planned the rest of my day around eating better, and had a great time.

Can't let it eat you too! I was bad today and ate a chocolate turnover... Moving on though.

I've eaten a Fiber One cookie and it satisfies my sweet tooth. I agree with @@finediva that I had this surgery to control my out of control eating but not to never have little treats every now and then. I live by the "everything in moderation" motto now. As long as you aren't eating the whole cake and just needing a taste every now and then, I see no problem with it.

@JerzyTomato74. Fiber ones are great. I save them for my work out days and eat them about a half hour before I begin my workout

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
