Man, what a schedule girl. You need to take care of yourself. ,maybe a mental health day is in order. :)

Yeah, I also would love to say good bye to the 200's. I am 34 lbs away.:phanvan.

I am going on a large trip, NYC, Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto, amusement park, so hopefully all that exercise will bump up the weight loss.

To the entire board Can you drink alcohol?? I know your not suppose too. I heard you get wasted really fast.

It is so crazy with good restriction to get in all that Water. it drives me crazy to just drink 16 ounces. Why really is all that Fluid so important. I mean I know you don't want to dehydrate but is there any other advantages?

Have a great week friends.

I drink alchohol. I don't drink much. I never have. Tequila is my alchohol of choice actually. Margarittas are yum (and I have a good sugar free mix) of a lot of times I will just have some nice tequilla (so far my fav is corazon agave) with some flattened tonic Water and a bit of lime juice.< /p>

Of course that is diet tonic water...

I really like the flavor of it for some reason. Must be the quinine. Not enough in tonic water to prevent malaria though a friend of mine doing her PhD in that says. Bummer.

I drink. Not a ton, never have. I just avoid the bubbly stuff.

I drank heavily for me this past weekend, I was in Chicago. (I waved TammyJ, did you see me?) I had two drinks each day, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

I think the scale will yell at me in the morning, but it all went down easily and I was a quick drunk. :)

Hi everyone,

I posted a hello post a couple of weeks ago and then went into lurk mode. I had a major sinus infection that ko'd me for 2 weeks.

Anyway I am back now and went for my 2nd fill today. She put 2 cc's in my band (which makes a total of 5.5 cc's). OMG talk about restriction???? I ate 3 forkfuls of the meat off my salad at dinner and almost hacked it all back up. It wasnt pb - I just ate too much. Hopefully we can get this weight loss train moving in the right direction again. I swear I walk, I exercise, I have tried to push myself away from the table but it just was not coming off. I did go get some Isopur and some Amplify from GNC and was excited about it, but my MD said NO Protein drinks! She said Protein Bars are ok but she only wants solids - no liquids. I am confused about this. What is everyone else doing? I want to do whats right...

I saw you waving Juli...:D The weather could have been a little nicer this past weekend, but I hope you enjoyed yourself. The Taste of Chicago starts this weekend. This year will be the first year that I don't get pissed off at the little samples of food that they give. It will be just enough thanks to my BAND! :biggrin1:

I will admit that I am a heavy drinker...always have been. My tolerance level is through the roof and that hasn't changed a whole lot since I've been banded. I am still able to drink quite a bit before feeling the effects. For example I had 7 shots of Patrone (looked like double shots if you asked me) one night while on vacation...anybody else would have been on the floor. I don't drink like that all the time, but the fact that I can handle it makes me wonder..:)

Kyethra, where do you find sugar free Margarita mix?

I know everyone's surgeon is different, but does he/she suggest liquids right after your fill? There may a little swelling around your stomach after a fill which is the reason many surgeon say full liquids for the first day or two after a fill.

I don't do liquid Protein at all...except right after a fill. I'm still having nightmares from the entire month of liquids I had to do pre and post surgery. Solid Protein is definitely better. It keeps me feeling fuller than drinking protein. Let your band do some work...eat solids! :hungry:

Your weight is sure to start moving again now that you have good restriction! :gluck:

Actually she told me after both fills to have solids only. I even had her repeat it to be sure. I decided on a salad just b/c I was starving and needed something to eat. She also isnt huge on fills. She actually wanted me to try to go it with one fill forever. I had to tell her either I get filled or I eat New York. I didnt gain all this weight b/c I had wonderful willpower.

I hear ya on the nightmares pre surgery. She sent me to Wisconsin Dells on that liquid diet. OMG I was a nightmare! I did it, but it wasnt pretty and is one vacation my family will never forget.

Thanks for the advice. I do try to eat mostly solids. This is actually the first time I had that really good restriction feeling. I cant say I liked it, but I now know to back off alot sooner. I have had one session of pb that taught me never to eat skirt steak again. It is just a never ending learning experience.

I love my alcohol. I had a "good bye to tequila" thing a couple of weeks before my surgery as I thought I should never have it again, and tequila shots were my thing. But then my surgeon told me I could still have tequila shots, I should just add a bit of Water and not do them straight (I didn't even ask - he just volunteered this info). Well, hell ... I didn't have to say goodbye to it afterall. I haven't had any tequila since surgery though. Well, I've had a margarita or two, but no shots.

I have had saki shots (I skipped the beer and had straight saki) which worked out fine for me. I didn't seem to get drunk any faster than usual that night - and I had many shots of saki.

Anymore though, I tend to pour a drink (sometimes white wine, but more often gin with light grapefruit juice {called a salty dog, apparently}), but it's almost too much work to drink it. I just can't fit all the liquid in, and it's usually a choice of dinner or drinking, I hate trying to drink after I've had dinner.< /p>

I was never much of a beer drinker, but I do find myself craving it sometimes. Just want what I can't have I guess.

So, short answer after the long ramblings above: I can drink it fine, don't really seem to get drunk faster, but it's more work than it used to be to get all the liquid in.

Also, I've always tended to eat more (a lot more) after drinking, so I have a bit of a fear that one day I'll get stupid and eat something I should (not that I really keep anything in the house that I shouldn't, but I could gorge even on healthy food).

Survived the girls weekend and the booze. Didn't find I got any drunker (?) than usaul or any faster. Ended up having a lot of wine , just found that was something I could sip on all day while at the beach without to much trouble. Also dad some Mudslides (for the milk of coarse). All and all it was a great weekend. Had a spa treatment and did a bit of shopping and had a lot of different food and didn't have any trouble with anything. Except that I wanted to keep eating a lot longer than the band wanted to. That is very frustrating some times, But am so glad that it's there. I just kept thinking that nothing will taste as good as being thin will feel!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Right????

I get my nxt fill on Wed. and am looking forward to having more restriction to get this weight lost going a little quicker. I can still eat my favorite food bread with out to much trouble, and that is Not a good thing.

Morning im so sleepy:faint::faint::faint:

SO my doctor's appointment went by so quick, he was happy to see me!

I got on the scale and knew it was going to say I gained but I acutally had lost 8 pounds since my last visit with gyn which was May 15 I think?? I was 245!!!

He didn't give me a fill he said I didnt need it and I agree although I was trying to talk him into it he said NOPE!!!!! Which was cool I dont need it I'm not eating much anyways!

SO he told me to start eating Breakfast and to eat least 3 times a day!!!

But the last time I weighed with my surgeon I was 252 when I got my 2nd fill! He was so amazed that I was down to 240 :)

I wasnt!!! :rolleyes I for sure wanted the scale to say 230 somthing!!

But I'm pushing myself to be at 230 the next time I go back in August...

Goal:Lose 10 pounds by AUGUST 6TH:) Maybe me cutting the drinks will help with my goal:confused:

Hey everyone

I get to see my doc tomorrow to see how everything is going. I'm not sure whether she's going to want to fill me or not, and I'm not sure whether I need one or not. Some days I'm very tight and other days I feel like I've been eating non stop. I can still eat up to 1500 calories a day, on most days. And I haven't had a problem with eating Breakfast, which I used to for about 2 weeks after my most recent fill. But I've also been steadily losing.

As for the booze, I still drink and I find it does make me tipsier quicker, but only by a drink. Instead of 3 glasses of wine to get tipsy, I drink 2.

Hey Marchie Sistas,

Very unlike me...but I am very depressed. Maybe it is the let down of coming back from Napa back to rainy freakin' Dallas..or maybe it is the fact that

I am at the Plateau from HELL!!!!!

I have been stuck at 271 for about 3 weeks!!!! AARGH!!!

I called the doctor's office today to schedule an appointment to talk to him and see if he thinks I need another fill. I am 2.2 in a 4 cc.

After my last fill (those that remember my rabies!) my "food tube" :) was so irritated that it hurt to swallow anything remotely solid for about 3 weeks . I am able to eat around 2 cups of food at a time--some days--the band 'o hell sometimes is fickle--and some days maybe a cup.

Anywho--any advice would be appreciated.

Your Friend 'N Need,

Denise :faint:

Hey Denise, I had about a 5 week plateau, and now suddenly the weight is melting away again. It's just your body trying to catch up to all the changes. Of course you know that, but it really sucks when it's happening. You probably built some killer muscles with all that exercise you did in Napa, and soon they will be obliterating the fat cells, and the scale will move again!

I ended up getting a conservative fill (.5) when I was able to eat 2 cups most of the time. I was a little affraid, because there were also times when I could only do liquids. I have a stash of Protein drinks for those days. I had one of those rabid dog episodes after my 2nd fill. I swallowed a bite of dry salmon (probably didn't chew enough too), and foamed for 20 min. It hurt! I will only eat moist food from now on and chew like crazy!

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

      2. Selina333

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

      3. Doughgurl

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
