Marchies in June

Recommended Posts

Holy Cow we are a day away from Marchies in July!

I'm plateaued out like many of you and I'm not losing like I want to be. I thought doing all the right things would be second nature by now, but it is not.

There are too many calories going in some days. Yesterday, I felt horrible at the end of the day for having eaten too much so I grabbed a few crackers to absolutely blow the day. I've not had that kind of behavior in over 6 months! What the heck was that about?!

Certainly I'm celebrating more than being distructive, but holy crap.

yuck, yuck, yuck....I'm very blue about things at the moment.

Here's to digging a little deeper and finding the bright spot in the journey. Maybe it's the rain that has be down...

Juli

Hang in there, Juli--you are such an inspiration! Today is a new day: begin again! The bright spot is shining before you. You can do this. Karen

I've hit a plateau also...so what's up with that? We are all around 3+ months out, what gives?

I've been at 2cc in my 5cc band since May 8th. At my appt on June 4th I'd lost 6 lbs......a month later I've only lost 1 more lb!!!

I'm kinda dreading my next appt on July 16th, scared to get on the scale and see failure, just like all the other diets before the LB.

I'm gonna try and kick my exercise routine up a notch.

Walking, on average, 12,000 steps a day and around 4000 of those are aerobic steps (60+steps in 1 minutes)

I'm dissappointed in myself, I thought i'd have lost more than 26 lbs by now.

Oh, and WELCOME Cindy!

I am kind of stuck too. I am still working out like a freaking fiend but the scale is not moving.

However my husband took a picture of me yesterday and I didn't want to burn it so I am definitely heading in the right direction.

I think my main problem right now is impatience. I am doing everything right and I want to wake up TOMORROW no longer fat.

Hey Mary!

Like you, my last fill was around the same time your's was ( 5/9). At that time I had lost several pounds---and since...not so much! Aargh. I think I may need another fill--but not sure. I have my next appointment about the same time your next one is--mine is July 11th ( I wish it was sooner--but because of the holiday--that is when it has to be :faint:!)

I am so glad that we have this thread---though we are all on a plateau it seems--we are in it together!

Okay my marvelous marchies let's kick the asses of these plateaus together. We got banded together, we've been dealing with fill woes (to fill or not to fill) together, we've all lost some weight together, it's time to knock these plateaus out of the park.

This weekend let's all try to eat on the low end of typical and do more activity. Trim your nails and shave your legs and see if that helps the scale on Monday too! LOL.

Knowing you all are trying harder will make me dig a little deeper too. Who's with me?

Juli

Julie I am with you! I am going to try, try try, this weekend.

I swear I am the most disgusting mom. I have 4 kids, oldest 19. We are driving in the car. My 6 year old is hungry so we stop and get her a cheesburger meal.

I eat 2 fries and a bite from the burger and a tiny sip of pop. My 16 year old (new driver) is driving. I am screaming:eek: for the bag that the food came into because at this point I am PBing out the window of the car.

Are you guys able to judge what you can and can't eat pretty good now. I am not sure why I can't gage it.

I remember reading a post a while back. Somebody said they often would take a big bite of something like a burger. Chew it then spit it out. I thought they were crazy, but I think sometimes you miss that mouth of food.

I am not saying that I am overeating and that is what is causing the PBing, it just seems I am still trying to gage textures and what will go down the smoothest.

Do you think that pretty much it is truly a soft diet?

How do salads go down any suggestions?

I do not eat a soft diet - I love broccoli, meat, even the occasional Peanut Butter rollover on sprouted whole wheat berry bread.< /p>

I find that sometimes on my first bite of food I get a little overexcited and do not take the time to chew chew chew so I get a stuck feeling. It isn't that I can't do the food that I am eating but that I took too big of a bite or did not chew completely.

I love salads but I find that spinach and the softer lettuces go down better - romaine, green leaf, bibb, etc. Iceberg, besides being nutritionally bankrupt, is a hard lettuce and does not go down well for me.

Cool Janine!

I eat salads most days. Typically leaf lettuce or spinach.

Actually it's more like a "bed" of lettuce under the Protein I'm eating, be it seared fish or grilled chicken.

Good Lucky

Hello to you all...I had my banding on March 28th-2007.(St. Francis Bariactric Center of Memphis, TN) I am so glad to have lost just past 33 plus. I need to check my weight, but I am superstitous about doing it every week. Anyway--I am so glad this banding can stop and make me think. I have never ever eaten fish 5 days in a row. I found myself in the fish market buying not 5--but 25 fish. They were small and meal size. Maybe the guy was waiting on me to buy the 13 catfish and 12 drum fish. Right at $22...It was a deal. I have a deep freezer holding all of this. This week--5 meals--fish and veggies--one day--fish and mac and cheese. I told my Doctor that I wanted to boost my weekly weight loss to just over 2.5 to 2.66...She said--maybe that is possible. I got 2 fills so far and this fill seems to be doing the trick. That is 1.6 cc's of water...Not bad.

I do have one problem--my appetite is so tough to take in the morning--it's almost zero. My energy level is "Off the Chain". I mean--I may have to cut back on the anti-depressives. Wellbutrin is known to be a zero weight gain for the appetite and many times--make you lose weight. I will ask my Dr on the next visit about cutting back to a lower dose--since my sleep issues are back. Too much energy. Yesterday(6-30-07) I washed dishes--which is normal. I mopped all of my floors at night since I could not sleep. I found myself re-arranging my bedroom at 1:30 am--could not sleep. Then I mopped the kitchen again. Saying to myself.."Oh--I missed that corner"... This type of energy was never in my body before. I can recall when I had this energy last--when I was in the Army and i was around 27 years old. Most nights when I can't sleep--I am laying on the couch watching TV all night. Thank God--my little 2 bedroom apartment is looking great....hahahahaha...Can't wait to get back to the Gym in August....

Great job on the exercise TammyJ! I was at first disapointed that I didn't totally reach my goal of 10 each of 20, 30, and 40 min sessions......but then I realized......I exercised 25 times this month! This is WAY more than I did pre-surgery. I'm going to keep the same goal for this month. I will reach it. I did increase my 40 min cardio in June, now I just need to increase my 30 min circuit sessions with that.

I'm ready to kick ass this month too! I've loaded up on frozen turkey burgers, talapia, fruit, and veggies. Let's do this!!

:D

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
