Marchies in June

Wow...I am pleasantly suprised. I do not know how much he put in my band, but I was starving before he did the fill and the moment he finished, I was not hungry. I have to be on Clear liquids for 3 days, and full liquids for 3 days and then soft food for 4 or 5 days and finally hit solid food around 10-14 days after the fill. I am going to follow this plan to the best of my ability. The doctor said my Mexica band looked great.

I am able to drink warm fluids, broth and of course, Tea!!!!

I was scared but now am grateful it is over and I am not having any discomfort.

So, I am now down 27 pounds since March 20 and smoke free since May 5th. Yippee!!!!!!

Tranam Great Job! As a person struggling to quit smoking for over 20 years, I can appreciate your committment and effort. It feels great to be smoke free doesn't it? I can actually run up the stairs, on my treadmill, after my son on his bike all without panting and huffing for oxygen. And I think I smell better too!

Good luck with your fill.

I'm really tight today, I'm pretty sure I over ate yesterday :{ and that might have caused this. Trying to slowly eat a light & fit yogurt, I've gotta eat something, feeling light headed.

Seeing primary Dr. tomorrow. My blood pressure has been getting pretty low, (94/62) I almost fainted the other day especially since I didn't get in all my Water. Hoping he'll lower my dosage of BP medication. Hope he doesn't stop it all together, it also controls my migrane headaches.

Everyone have a great day...follow the LB rules & get in your exercise & water.

Glad to hear that your fill went well. I am scheduled for my first fill on Tuesday. I am really nervous. My weight has remained steady for the past three weeks. So I'm hoping that this will jumpstart the weight loss.

I'm thinking about having some boob work done. They are getting smaller as I lose weight. I was a 42DD now I'm a 38D, but they are getting flat and flabby so I'm thinking about having them lifted later on. The lower tummy is a problem area for me and it's been there for as long as I can remember. I've never had a flat tummy. About 10 years ago I had gotten down to 190lbs after doing Jenny Craig and I still had the kangaroo pouch so I may just have to cut it off when I get to my goal weight! :(

Hi Marchies. I responded to the May thread before I realized ya'll had moved. I can't seem to make time to check this daily.

Update on my leg. they think I tore the Plantaris Muscle. If you're going to tear something in your calf...that's the one to tear. I'm walking pretty good on both legs with crutches and hobble along on just one or none. I'll find out tomorrow if I can drive again or not.

The down side to all of this is I'm eating too much (boredom!) and I can't exercise. Well I did wheel myself around Walmart on Saturday in a wheelchair. Talk about sore arms the next day.

I'm wondering...It seems like I'm eating more and it does not keep me full as long. Do you think my band has slipped. I've never thrown-up since the surgery so I don't know what I could have done to make that happen. I've only had the 1 fill. I miss my 2nd fill due to my injury and they had to postpone my latest appointment so now I wont go back until the 18th. I'm staying within the same 5 lbs, but this is getting frustrating.

I need to get a small notepad to write everything down again and start keeping track. This was too much to go through to stop at 35-40 lbs.

Good morning Marchies,

We were on page 2 again. Can't handle that. We Marchies must all be early retires, like in going to bed early. This is going to be a long day for me. Last night I kept one of my day care kids overnight because parents went out and were getting in late. I never sleep good when I have a kid here overnight. My old mother instinct kicks in. When my alarm went off at 6;15 this morning she woke up too. I always look forward to my half hour after getting dressed to check the website, drink my morning coffee and eat Breakfast. Today I have a constant shadow and no quiet time. It's a good thing it's Friday. Don't get me wrong, I love these kids like they were my own but really do like sending them home at night, like a grandma does. At the age of almost 60, 36 hours of kids is about 24 hours too many. I'll stop gripping now. Hope all you Marches have a great day. Linda

Linda,

I'm a mom and when my kid gets up with me I can't stand it. I need my sanity time, which is really only 20 minutes but it makes such a difference!

Sue,

Sorry to hear you're in pain with your torn muscle. You'll start losing quickly when you get healed. Don't even begin to think you're going to stop at 35-40 pounds!

About breast reductions. I got one 5 years ago, when I dropped 90#. I was a 40H and 40I. A little lopsided! Before I had lost the weight I was wearing J cups. Yes, they were custom bras that cost $65 each! The surgeon took me down to a full C.

With gaining back lots of the weight my cup is a D...I'll have a revision when I get the weight off. I'll also have a belly-ectomy!!

But my point is....GET PLASTIC SURGERY IF YOU WANT IT! It's the best thing you can do for yourself, once you are healthy.

I looked in the mirror yesterday and realized my skin isn't gonna shrink with this weight loss. After decades of weight loss & gain and also 2 children, I'm only gonna hang and sag. My boobs already stare at the floor. My belly and hip skin isn't shrinking either.

How do you get insurance to pay for these procedures?

I've heard it really hurts and takes a long time for recovery. The pics I saw on the reconstruction forum look terribily painful.

Perhaps a good full body girdle and some duct tape will suffice!

OH juli Was the breast reduction painful? Do you have sensation in them still?

It's weird, I didn't think twice about the LB surgery but not sure I could go through with reconstruction.

Have a great day everyone....it's FRIDAY!

Recovery from lapbanding hurt more. Really, I think it was the difference between having your internal organs moved and having stuff on the outside moved.

I do have sensation in my nipples, which there was a 10% chance of losing that! But the sides of breasts near my underarms are numb.

I know other people who will don't want reconstructive surgery.

As for the pannis, the hanging belly, when ever I get rashy there I call my doctor to have it in my medical history, so removal can be medically indicated.

I'm going to have to pay for everything else I'm sure.

Hey Mary,

Here in Michigan I hear that Uof M is always in need of skin for burn victims. A friend told me that when people have large hunks removed U of M will pay for your surgery. Again this is here say, but worth looking into.

Had my second fill yesterday. What a huge difference. I officially feel banded now. It is a odd feeling, but I am happy. I have kinda plateaued so hopefully this will kick start things up again.

Anyone else out there going through some mental challenges regarding planning a vacation and eating? I had no clue my DH and I were such foodaholics. We are going to NYC, Montreal, Amish country. All he is talking about is restaurants and food. Everything revolves around food.< /p>

I am trying to tell him that maybe we can take walks around the parks etc. instead. Even my kids see vacation as simply a time to eat.

I've heard that the burn center in Tyler Texas will do the same thing. I'm not sure where the surgery is done but I heard this long before I had surgery.

Hi Friends!

Well I am working out about 4 times a week :girl_hug: ---so I thought I would go outside my comfort zone and try a yoga class. Welllllllllllll, let me put it this way---it wasn't a beginners class ha ha. The woman that was the instructor is HARD! and when she would say for the next move do we want this the hard way or the easy way?---everyone but me yells: "THE HARD WAY". Oh my goodness!!! I made it through the entire hour class, though I wanted to leave--but I knew that 50 skinny woman would be looking at me leaving and I could not handle that! I guess I will try it again--someday. But for know I hope never to hear " get in your down dog" again!!!!

Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Denise :biggrin1:

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
