I was fortunate in that after my six months of supervised nutrition, my doctor was satisfied with my weight loss that he told me I only had to be on a pre-op liquid diet the day before surgery. So I spent the two weeks beforehand eating a treat item each day to satisfy anything I was craving in order to not be missing anything after surgery.

Of course, I'm still craving a few things: pizza, BBQ burger, donuts, empanadas (which I haven't eaten in a decade, so... where the hell that came from I have no idea), and chicken nuggets. Also, this turkey meatloaf from Whole Foods that I'm obsessed with, but I'm going to buy it in the pureed foods stage and blend it up because it's insanely high in Protein.

I want the melted cheese and pepperoni off of the top of a slice of pizza, Soup made with white Beans and ham, and lately have been really craving and liking the taste of mustard (which I used to tolerate, but nothing more nothing less).

I think the one thing right now is nuts, almonds and cashews.

I buy two of the P3 paks from the grocery store and incorporate them into my week so I get a little fix, but I know I cannot have a container of either in the house.

I could measure out portions but I think I would keep going back here and there for a nibble so for now I am not bringing them into the house.

@Iowa_summergirl- I am craving the same thing! I want to eat those pinwheels(name?) where you smear cream cheese on deli ham and wrap them in a pickle and slice them. Yum! I have been craving odd things like a lot of pickled veggies and mustard sounds oddly good too lol.

I was craving Cornish Hen 1 day after my surgery. I finally made it 4 weeks later with my mother's baste (sugar free orange marmalde, orange juice and a tsp of brown sugar) I could only eat 2/3 bites..but that was it.

Now, (which I am happy about) I used to be a sweet eater especially right before bed..but I don't even crave it anymore (10 weeks post op) If I happen to get a sweet tooth, I put a little bit of 2% milk in a glass with a touch of chocolate Syrup and BAM the craving is gone.

I've been having some crazy cravings! Sushi and chicken Parm, pizza, and a hamburger from McDonalds would be the biggest things on my list. BUT more than that, I keep having dreams where I eat things (two nights ago it was pizza and cake, last night it was jelly beans) to excess and then I wake up with a stomachache! It goes away after my brain realizes I didn't eat them, but still!

@@greatestnameever funny that you mention dreams! I had a dream where I was floating down a river in a plastic tub and there were decorated sheet cakes floating down the river, too...and I would grab one after the other and just go to town- like pie-eating contest style. I woke up feeling a sugar high and queasy. Tried to look up the meaning to that dream and...yeah...I think that one was too weird for the dream dictionary. LOL

First it was pizza, that didn't go well, than chicken wings from Buffalo Wild Wings, I ate 3 and that craving was

gone. The three that are left are Crab Wontons, Chicken Oriental salad from Applebee's, and Lobster or Crab with

a little butter.

I would kill for some hot, spicy, boiled crawfish!!! I smell them all the time. My husband's eating BBQ now & I swear it smells like crawfish to me! I just had surgery on Tuesday; wish I would have thought about it last week! By the time I can eat anything it won't be in season! I guess I'll have to wait till next season! Thank God it comes twice a year!

Just remember: "Pinch the tail and suck the head"!!!

I'm amazed at the different cravings and I'm right there with every one of them...except sushi and crawfish (not a fish fan)! I am still sticking with my condiments...mustard, mayo, jalapenos...I'm not sure if anyone is familiar with ham salad or if that's just a Midwest thing, but I saw it in the grocery store today and my mouth started watering (mushed up ham with pieces of pickle and a little onion in it...best with a slice of fresh bread).! I haven't had it since I was a kid, but suddenly it sounds like the best thing in the world.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
