hospital stay and back to work

Recommended Posts

I had one night in the hospital, and went back to work today--two weeks three days later. I told them in advance I would be tired, and might need to take breaks. I had Snacks with me, and my bottle of Water. All went well!

I had my surgery on 1/6 and took 4 wks off. I'll be back at work on 2/9. I really feel like I've needed it because there have been many times I have felt sick/nauseous and glad I was at home to deal with it. Not to mention my energy levels have sucked and I haven't been able to sleep at all. So I'm working on both of those and hope to have them figured out by next weekend. :-/

I just had surgery on Monday and I am already back at work. I work a desk job and I am able to get up and walk for 15 min every two hours.

Don't try to plan it out too much. Your plans may change. I went in for surgery on 3/12......I'm still in the hospital! Things can happen. Allow yourself the time to rest up. Use FMLA if you have it and good luck to you!

I had one overnight stay. I only had pain meds the day of surgery and I was off work one week.

Good luck!

I stayed overnight for the sleeve, came home next day did not use any pain meds, made myself get up and walk and forced fluids, mainly Water, after three to four days I felt complete again, although I still am very tired and weak at times, I push my walks, about five to ten minutes in the house, and keep drinking fluids, you'll get stronger

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
