What Does This Mean?

Recommended Posts

So I had gastric bypass in September. I have lost a total of.70 pounds since. I started not feeling well a couple weeks ago..nausea lightheaded just overall feeling of being unwell. Went to my surgeon. Had an ultrasound and blood tests. Report came back... enlarged liver, high blood sugar and also sludge in my gall bladder. Frustrated. I thought my weight loss would help me more at this point. I did have an enlarged liver but.not the other probs before. Trudging on and hoping i didnt awaken something. Is sludge the beginning stage of gallstones?

I'm so sorry! Were you taking the medicine Actigall by any chance everyday? My surgeon prescribed me to take it twice a day right after my surgery for the next six months, but I have a hard time swallowing pills right now and usually only into taking one a day, sometimes I even skip it. That is a fear of mine that my gallbladder my act up some day. I was hoping that with my new diet changes that I wouldn't have to worry about gallstones. I don't know anything about enlarged liver's, or what would cause a liver to become enlarged. Did your doctor explain to you what might've happened? What is he advised me to do at this point?

I'm also wondering why your blood sugar would be high when we are able to process so little sugar? I'm guessing that's something to do with your liver, too. I'm really hope you get the treatment you need and feel better quickly.

Why don't you put the actigal in sugarfree cool whip or unsweetened applesauce that's what I did I sprinkle it in there and had no problem this was suggested by my team .

Noone has ever suggested actigall. My dr. Has never mentioned it. Sometimes I wonder if I'm nothing more than a number to him. I wonder if.im getting the care I need. He always wants to see me $$$ but never helps. Last week I had nothing but problems and wonder if it's related.

If your pancreas was damaged through any of these new issues, it would explain the high blood sugar... your pancreas makes the insulin your body needs to manage glucose in the blood stream. Also stress on your body via these new issues can spike your sugar.

Get that Gallbladder out. The stabbing pain from my gallbladder would put me in the floor. Mine was years ago but I still remember that pain.

Yah it's pretty scary stuff. I haven't had sharp pain. Somehow I figure If I haven't had a crazy amount of pain everything is ok.

My surgeon took out my gallbladder during my RNY, my pre-op scans showed preliminary stones. A friend had another surgeon and didn't get pre-op gallbladder scans. 18 months post-surg she ended up with septic gallbladder and in a coma for 4 days. Talk to your surgeon - or a different one? - about what "sludge" means and if you are on your way to a gallbladder removal. Maybe sooner than later. Sorry you're having such difficulty, I hope you get some answers and relief soon.

Sometimes I wish he would have. When my surgery happened my surgeon had a surprise that I had intestinal malrotation which basically means my digestive system did not form properly. He had my connected incorrectly and then realized it and made the correction. I hope having this surgery done did not awaken something. Since last night I have had nothing but diarrhea tmi liquid and this morning there was lots of blood. Made an appointment and am going to try and get thru till then but I'm def freaking out

I was thinking of you last night and wondered if it might be something you are eating? I know it feels like you're past the stage of foods suddenly bothering you. But my surgery was September also and for the first 5 months I could eat sugars with almost no trouble. And the scared me and made me really happy at the same time. But suddenly in the last 5-6 weeks, I am having obvious reactions to sugars. I was surprised that it happened pretty well after my healing process, but it is definitely happening. So, could there be something you've been eating all along but suddenly it's bothering you? Mayonnaise? Fats? Sugars?

Maybe. U just haven't seen a particular correlation. I have been one of those lucky or rather unlucky people that can have sugar and certain foods and it doesn't bother me. I haven't eaten and still feel crampy but much better. At least I know what to do when I don't feel well. I'm gonna see the doc at 3 and hope to get some answers because I'm so sick of feeling this way. AmyC65 how much weight have you lost?

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
