I'm 4 weeks out & it definitely gets better! Regarding the thirst thing...sip, sip, sip! All day long I'm sipping Water or a Protein Shake. So while I don't use the restroom all that often, I also don't feel like I'm dying of thirst.

Believe all of us when we say you will be feeling a lot better in a few weeks. This is just a little bump in the road to your future success and weight loss.

I've never felt better and I'm down 18 lbs since surgery on the 29th.

Get ready for a new wardrobe!!

I am 12 days post op. I feel okay. No pain , incisions a little itchy cause they are healing. Like everyone says, sip liquids as much as you can. Hydrate.

The only issue I am having is, my tastebuds changed so much that nothing is appealing to me. :( I hope that goes away.

It is going to be so hard to go out to dinner with people again. For example, my BF parents come down from where they live and we gather to have wings. Like 6 of us. What the heck am I going to do then? lol

[[excuse me while I shake my Protein shake and sip it out of a thimbal]] ugh. lol

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
