Curious-Is it hard to cook family meals after sleeve.

Recommended Posts

Did anyone freeze some meals before surgery? I was thinking of doing so for at least the 1st week or so...thoughts?

I have froze a few things and Wil buy things my hubby can easily make for my son and him. I don't want to have to cook for at least a week.

Here is my thing. I have 3 children and a husband. I have almost missed dinner the last week or so because I am not hungry so I don't feel like cooking. At about 6:30, the kids start hunting me down to find out what is for dinner. We have had fend for yourself more. Nights than I can count on the last month. It will have to get better when school starts. Feeding the children is in my job description. Lol

I cook for my family and it is no problem. When I was on puréed stage I made a lot of low fat crockpot recipes because they purée well.

Some go to websites for healthy delicious recipes are

Everything I have made from these websites have been amazing. My whole family loves it!

It has helped me cook healthier for my husband and me. I cook lean Protein and a vegetable. I eat out of a small plate for myself and my husband eats on a normal dinner plate. He eats less than he did before my surgery. I think we are just both more aware.

Not really. I'm 10 days post op and still on liquids. I cook for my family just the same. This morning I made them french toast and turkey sausage and ill be making spaghetti and garlic bread tonight. I have no issue with it. I don't cook that often so when I have had to cook for them it's been fine. I wonder if that will change as i transition to solids.

I imagine i may have to eat differently from them sometimes like if it's a pizza night, I'll have to have something different and I'm ok with that.

I had no problem with cooking and not being able to eat. I would tell myself you've had it before and know what it tastes like. You'll have it again lol.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
