It really is a medical issue, not a personal failure, I like that way of looking at it.

We all feel like we've changed for the better when we have good restriction but nearly every one of us would be in the exact same situation if we were in your shoes.

I'm praying that you get that new band soon.

I'm sorry to hear about that. BUT, I'm glad to see that not only do you recognize that your gaining (instead of pushing it aside) you have a date to reband. Good for you. I wish you all the best. (Psst... we wouldn't have gotten banded in the first place if we could control it... so don't feel guilty!)

I woke up this morning feeling better, stronger, and more optimistic than I was yesterday. Thank you, everyone, for being so understanding and supportive. I really appreciate it, more than you know.

Mark, thank you.

Hi Alexandra,

I had my band revised the same week you had yours removed. My old band was taken out because of a slip and a new band was put in. I have gained 20 pounds also.....I am living your pain. I have joined weight watchers, but I am having a hard time. Everytime I step on the scale it is a biger number. I have no restriction, I am trying to use this as a lesson. I have an appointment to get a fill, don't give up. My insurance paid for the new band even though they would not pay for the original one? go figure? Just don't give up, we creating more than skinny bodies. We are in the process of tranforming our lives. It is a process and there is bound to be a few lessons along the way. Jennifer

Alexandria,

I just wanted to tell you I am thinking about you. You are such a rock to people on this forum. All of your replies to others are great and supportive!! I agree with the post above...you are not going into debt because of not being able to stop putting food in your mouth. This goes way deeper than that, and you truly know this, you are just feeling that way right now. You are beautiful and a wonderful person. I truly hope that all goes your way!!! Here's to your health and your happiness!!! Deanna

Thanks so much, ladies. Good thoughts are still needed and MUCH appreciated.

My doctor's office told me yesterday that they are filing an expedited appeal and expect a medical review to take place today. I asked what the experience was with this, and the answer was that she's never filed an appeal to have a band replaced when someone has such a low BMI. In this practice when bands have been removed it's always been for people who had been unsuccessful losing weight and therefore still qualified for replacement or revision. She didn't know if my lower BMI would completely prevent approval or not.

I'm really scared.

Oh man! How I can relate to those feelings! Try to focus on the fact that you are being banded again in less than a week and the process will begin again for you! I can't imagine how hard this has got to be. Hang in there, it will be over soon!

Alexandra, so sorry about your problems. I gained 37 lbs. back in just a few months last year after falling off the Weight Watchers' wagon--it is just so depressing and such a helpless feeling. But I hardly took time to admit I was gaining--good for you realizing what is happening and working hard to rectify the situation.

Whenever I feel scared I think of Paul's words to Timothy in the Bible: "God has not given us the spirit of FEAR, but of POWER, and of LOVE, and of a STRONG MIND!" So embrace your inner power, know you are loved, and keep working on solutions--you CAN get through this--fear is just not an option.

This literally brought tears to my eyes, Momlambert. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I feel like I have a lot of guardian  wings flapping for me.

Hi Alex, I really feel the fear and pain in your words. This whole weight/obesity issue is such a burden for all of us here. We all can relate to what you are going through. I am sending positive vibes your way that all will be well with the insurance situation.

I am also at a bit of a blue stage in my whole banding journey. I have lost a lot of weight already and that continues, but why am I feeling so depressed? Last Saturday I just sat on my couch and cried for most of the day. Could not stop crying all day. My hair has been falling out in clumps daily also with so sign of stopping.

It is not easy at all.

Oh I'm so so sorry to hear about this. Hang in there God will pull you through it.

JudyBellyBand has a leak in her 3 yr old band she has spent the last 8 months fighting with insurance and also gained 20 pounds. Yesterday she got word that the approval letter is on it's way. She is on the other band site more than this one I think so you could try to sent her a PM on there.

Anyway it may take a while but don't give up.

Youhave been such an insiration to me and so many others on here. I thank you for your help in so many times of needs.

I will say a prayer for your approval.

Alexandra,

I can literally feel your anguish and pain with having the weight gain, I've often thought that if I have to have my band removed they might as well do bypass at the same time because I'd gain weight all my weight back like a madwoman in no time at all. I wish you all the best in getting your new band, I pray it will all work out with your insurance company. You helped me out SO MUCH in the past with your encouragement and advice, good luck and my thoughts are with you. Hang in there!

I'm new here but I think anyone who has or is going to get the lapband procedure understands the fear and depression dealing with weight gain. You have accomplished so much over the years. You should be proud of yourself. You have a great group of people around you supporting you and praying for you. I will also keep you in my thoughts and prayers. Even though we have never actually chatted - - I can completely understand the day to day struggle with weight and food. You deserve happiness and another chance with the lapband. BMI....SHBMI....this procedure should allow patients another chance if the lapband slips or leaks (which is not in your control). Insurance companies can be so infuriating. Again, you are in my thoughts and prayers.

Quinn

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
