I had a Lap-band placed in February of 2010 . I originally lost about 40 pounds, but that stalled once the fills started. I have almost 10cc in a 12 cc band and have absolutely no restriction. The day since I have had surgery I have had constant diarrhea and loud stomach noises with normal BM's about 10%. Of the time. My doctor told me this was not related to the band, and so I starting seeing a GI specialist . After spending about 2k and about 6 months he cannot find anything wrong with my digestive system but is perplexed at the amount of diarrhea I have . I had none of this before surgery, and have researched the Vagus nerve in your stomach sometimes is damaged during abdominal surgery. I have no idea what is wrong, and no one else does. Today I weighed 262 which is a pound heavier than the day I had surgery. I absolutely HATE my lap-band and want it out. This was the worst decision of my life. Not sure if I want a sleeve or nothing at all. Sorry for the negativity but this is the truth ........ultimate failure

Sorry to hear about your struggle. It must be extremely frustrating. You might need to shop around to different bariatric docs until you find one who can help you get on track with your weight loss journey. Good luck to you and I wish you the best!

Sorry to hear that you're gong through all of this!

Can I ask you a couple of questions to see if we can try and help, not with the medical side of things but with the band function side?

You were banded in 2010, Can you tell us approx. what length of time you lost your 40lbs and what was the length of time in between for the regain?

Is it possible you've developed a food(s) allergy that is, such as a lactose, gluten or other food intolerance? I know often times this happens to people suddenly out of the blue and has much of the same side effects as the ones your experiencing.

My other question is what type of lifestyle are maintaining right now. Meaning are you getting your 60-80g of Protein daily, are you drinking a min. of 80oz of Water daily, is your carb intake low and mainly consistent of healthy carbs? These all are huge factors in the banded life style and without hitting these daily goals you will not see the results you had hoped for.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
