Sleeve 5 days ago and NOT hungry!

Recommended Posts

Got sleeved 1/8/15 and unfortunately have not lost weight or moved my bowels. I was released today from the hospital finally due to low potassium and high White blood cells and overall extreme nausea and weakness .

I tolerate Protein shakes but and a tiny bit( 2 baby spoons if that) of cottage cheese. My dr want me to focus in fluids not Protein right now ... Does anyone suggest or have a time menu to balance out when I should be having liquid or Proteins and amounts ??? I am not hungry and No urge to drink or anything. Had Jello and popcicles which I love but not crazy about any other foods ...

Suggestions ?!?!? I know i need to get protein in !

I wasn't hungry for a while after my surgery too. Definitely make a schedule for eating/drinking and stick to it. I was working hard to drink 1 ounce of Water every 15 minutes, so 4 oz. in an hour. Use a container that actually shows you the ounces so you know you are drinking enough and keep your eye on the clock. As for Protein, it's tough in the first couple of weeks. If you are already allowed cottage cheese, that's a good thing. Drinkable yogurt is also good. You won't be able to handle much at a time, so like with water, be sure to just eat on a schedule. I tried to eat every two hours in those early weeks.

My surgeon told me to concentrate on fluids at first and not worry too much about Protein as the fluids were vital.Like you I didn`t feel hungry but made sure I got my liquids. When my stomach had healed more I found I could get more protein in.Best wishes Pippinleicester.

I was not hungry at all. I had my surgery on 11/21/14. I do remember, however, having a bottle of Water with me everywhere. I even kept one in my bed so when I awoke during the night, I would take a SIP not GULP.

As for moving bowels, have fun with that. You will not move bowels because all you are doing is drinking liquids. Nothing really going in, so nothing will come out. I have just recently started having a regular bowel movement. I even take Miralax nightly to help.

My first 2 weeks were liquids only, after that, for weeks 3-6 I was eatting 2 teaspoonsful of mushy food every 2 hours. It worked out great because I had to make sure I ate something and it wasn't alot. But boy did I loose weight.

Right now I am starting to eat normal food, not much though. I can eat appx 2 oz of meats but I feel full quickly whereas my sister can eat 3-4 oz and has no problems. She had her surgery back in August, 2014.

Remember you have a baby tummy and you have to think like that also.......

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
