January Sleevers ❄️

Recommended Posts

Taking time away from the site. I have nothing new to report and to be honest. I'm a whats now going on a three week stall. In fact I even gain 7lbs. I don't have a clue how and I thought it was Water weight but I've been flushing my system with water enough to know it is not. I just need to go back to basics and do a pouch test. So when I break my stall I'll be back!

Big hugs to you! I think we all here know the struggle and you do what you need to do to get back right. We will be here when you return.

Well I have a bit of a hiccup to report.

After suffering some pretty bad Migraines, and not really being a Migraine kind of person, my doc sent me for an MRI just to make sure I was all good.

Long story short....I found out Friday that I have a tumor on my pituitary gland. It is benign, so praise the Lord. But it will have to be removed surgically as it is causing my headaches and messing with my hormones. And YES it is causing me to be completely unable to lose weight! And my acne that I'm suffering from!

So now I'm waiting to hear from a neurosurgeon to get a consult and surgery scheduled.

While I'm terrified and dumbstruck that I have this tiny alien growing in my brain, I am relieved to know that there is a reason I have been stuck at the exact same weight for months. In fact, I would bet money that had I not had the sleeve, I would probably weigh close to 300 pounds now because excessive weight gain is a side effect of this.

Life can never be simple, can it?

I wish you the best of luck and hope everything goes well and you have a speedy recovery. It is not a great thing that has happened but at least you now KNOW what is going on. Keep up updated and informed!

@@619Raf thanks for your nice words. I'm feeling better. Got some anti nausea meds. My tailbone has been hurting too. I fractured it in November 2013 and it took forever to heal, but it did. However lately it's been bugging me a lot more. I'm using a donut again. Argh. It is hard to be human.

@@txprincess holy crap girl! Well thankfully benign and you know what it is. Prayers for some a safe surgery and easy recovery.

I'm also experiencing the same as you ! Had RNY bypass 12 Jan, same height as you, SW 208, CW 194.

Very slow weight loss, with tons of stalls, but it's coming off!!! Just be patient with your body and keep going!

I've decided to go back to the basics and am going to do the pouch test. I've had naughty carbs and ate more this past week. I found myself starting to repeat my former bad habits. Going to nip it in the bud ASAP. I will let you know how it goes and if it helps!

Just checking in----I am in Singapore (HOT AND HUMID) for 3 weeks. My hubby works here. It's a challenge to get the right foods but not impossible. Thank heavens for Fuzzy Navel. A few days ago I tried seaweed salad, a few bites so I thought I was good. Last night I ate a bit more, like 4 bites and spent the rest of the night heaving it all back up. Felt like serious acid reflux. My throat burns today.

I've been here in Singapore many times and usually sweat like a "xx" .....well you know what. 50 pounds higher and I still sweat but not nearly so much and cool down much faster.

It was always an odd feeling to be around so many Asians who are generally not overweight, often small frames, and walk everywhere. I'm still a big girl but I feel better so I'm not feeling so conspicuous and standing out. It is amazing what loosing 1/3 of my weight feels like. I can't even begin to imagine what 80 more pounds will be like. Scary actually but I'm working with my shrink on that one.

Best to all of you!

Hello January buddies!

I had my 3 month follow up at my surgeon's office today. Met with the Physician's Assistant and my Nut who both said I was doing great! I have lost 35 pounds which is 40% of the total I want to lose. My blood work was good, except Calcium is too high which is weird... I eat very little dairy and always forget my calcium supplements. So I don't have to take them anymore. Check up and blood work again in 3 months. I'm still struggling a bit with my Water and am working to get more exercise in. Overall I am really happy.

I don't post much, but I read tons of posts, and this site has helped me so much! :)

Well I'm back cause I FINALLY broke that stall I was having. Took a lot out of me emotionally to be in that one for so long. I didn't want to whine about it in the thread so I just dealt with it and came back when I broke it. I went back and did my pre op diet and worked out twice a day for 5 days to finally break it but I needed it. I was slipping slowly back into old habits with the carbs. I also spent a week realizing what I problem will not be able to eat anymore and have to make some forever changes to my diet. One 90% of meats are out for me. Fish is fine but most beef, chicken and definitely pork is out for me. I eat it and it just sits on my stop not matter how I intake it. Also NO fast food whats so ever. I have eaten a kids meal from some of my "favorite" places and I have gotten sick each and every time. No chocolate either, it upsets my GERD to a whole nothing level. I know some people were asking why are you eating these things anyways. Cause I choose to and and I wasn't going to say that I never was again. Now I know what I can handle. Well there is my update! Hope everyone is doing well and having a great work week!

I'm very stressed right now (good stuff) and miss the comfort of food. In the past, I could always calm down by eating my stress away (no wonder I got fat) but now I'm in the biggest life transition I've been in for decades and need to find other coping mechanisms. I've been exercising which helps to some degree, but I also just have to be ok with higher stress in the short term. I got accepted into a school so at 40 I'm going back to school, changing my career completely, moving to a town I don't know anyone, and dealing with all the stresses of looking for new jobs, internships, housing, scholarships and all the other issues that go along with a decision like this. I'm also basically making the decision to be poor for the next two years which sucks. But on the bright side, I'll be setting myself up for a life I'm excited to live.

Veronica, I am glad your back. Your honesty is refreshing. I too have my moments. I ate two bits of the best chocolate cake. I did not feel guilty, the old me would have ate two pieces of cake. I went 3 weeks with no weight lose and then dropped 3 lbs.. Inches are coming off, I am getting more active and feel great about myself. I am not in a race with anyone or even though it does seem slow, it seems I am loosing about the same as everyone else. My surgery was Jan 6 and I am down 50 lbs. I would like to loose about 30 more lbs. SOOOOO I am heading in that direction. I do not count calories. I drink 1 or 2 Protein Drinks a day, constantly drinking Water and grape crystal lite. Low fat cottage cheese, low fat string cheese. Meal time at dinner I heat chicken , steak, fish , salmon etc and a small portion of veg. Sometimes mash potatoes but in low portion.{ Like 4 bites} I love for dessert Chocolate sugar free pudding and sugar free Jello. I am not suffering at all and not having cravings. Everything is portion controls mainly because I fill up fast , so I stop. I do not drink when I eat , that is very important. I have heard a lot of people say they hate their Protein Drink, Mine is delicious, My surgeon told me about it and I order it online. Syntrax--Matrix Sustained-release Protein Blend 2.0 it comes in every flavor, I love the chocolate. I order other flavors too. They arrive in 3 t0 4 days. I hope this helps and encourages everyone.

Great updates! I also have gone back to the beginning. The last two weeks were horrible after illnesses with myself and my kiddos and a family death I was slipping into old habits! The scale was not moving and I was letting everything bring me down. I am back to meal planning and Protein Shakes. I have also made it back to the gym! We are all human and make mistakes, I know I have ate some stuff I shouldn't eat, but food has always comfort me and I know I can no longer do that. I did have to do an egd because of some stomach issues I was having. I am now on medication for stomach ulcers ????! My doctor said if my issues don't get better he would like to do the bypass! I am not wanting another surgery, I am hoping that everything I am doing now helps me lose more weight and also helps me with my stomach issues. I had my sleeve on January 15. My doctor says I am doing good with my weight loss! 65 pounds gone

619Raf Sorry about your ulcers. I have Rheumatoid Arthritis, Fibromyalgia so I am on a lot of meds. I have to be very careful not to take any nsaid like Ibuprofen, or steroid etc. etc If I need something for pain I take Tylenol, so not to get ulcers. Make sure any meds you take are not causing the problem.

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
