I know so many of us are numbers focused, myself included but we should really look at NSVs and/or the bigger picture regarding quality of life. I say this because for two years now, I've been watching my weight go down and my clothing sizes go down as well and at so many times, the two do not match up as I expected.

I've said before on other posts, that I had to lose an awful lot of weight just to go down one or two sizes from my inital starting point of 4X in tops and 26/28 in pants.

Yet I've noted that over the last four months, I've dropped a total of ten lbs. That's roughly .6 lbs. a week. Not much, right? Yet....I have gone from a petite medium/large to petite small in tops and fit comfortably in a size 6 petite in slacks and possibly into size 4's depending on the manufacturer. I bought silk thermal leggings/tops last week because of the cold weather and I tried them on yesterday and the small fit with no problem...in fact, I might have been OK in the extra small (which is a size 2/4).

All on ten pounds.

So what I'm trying to get across here is that numbers are just that....numbers. It's the changes we've made. The healthier eating...the healthier we've become...more mobility, less co-morbidities, the more active we are in terms of exercise and socializing. The more comfortable we have become in the world. The more engaged we are with life.

This is what is important to remember in our weight loss journey. We are so much more than our stats...and we have to remember that so as not to obsess over it.

Have a great weekend everyone.

Even with the weight I've lost things are already getting more comfortable, my seatbelt fits, I can fit in the chairs at church and the booths in restaraunts now, I don't have to perform contortion to take care of personal needs, I no longer sound like I just ran a marathon walking 10 feet, I can tie my shoes. I am lifting heavier things now that my stomach is smaller. I have more energy to take care of our new puppy, the house looks better as I can do more house cleaning and laundry everyday. I already am feeling better in social situations. I am not off my BP meds yet but the number are going down, hopefully soon. So thanks for the reminder. All of us can think of ways we benefit other than the scales.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
