To use before surgery? If your surgeon told you to use it, then my suggestion is follow the directions. I wasn't told to do that and didn't before mine. Everything was fine. If It wasn't something your surgeon told you to do my suggestion is take it back or throw it away. From what I read its unnecessary and per Mayo Clinic's website could cause problems.
