3 weeks post and still having gut pain. Is that normal?

I was wondering if anyone else is having (or had) the same problem I am. I am drinking as much as possible. Its a stabbing pain that comes and goes on my left side. I have already contacted my doctor. She suggest that I take a laxative/stool softener. I have and it only seems to make matters worse.

When I have had pain in my left side it has been constipation. Try the stool softeners and see if it helps. It did for me.

I also notice if there is a day or two that I don't get quite enough water, it causes constipation.
