Congrats Jason! You're doing great.. My husband and I are looking to do it together our date is 4/23/15. I've never had a surgery in all 41 yrs of my life. I'm a little nervous, but more excited right now. Can you share how your recovery was? Also, my job is unaware of my having surgery-- I was hoping to return to work within 4 days-- does that seem practical?

I would say no and I had no problems or pain. I would take at least a week, 2 if you can swing it. I was fine and could have returned back to work after a week, but there's also the eating/drinking part. You have to sip almost constantly those first two days. I also got tired easily so those first few weeks I had to have a mid day nap. If you have issues with gas or anything else, you're really not going to be up to dealing with a job.

I checked in to the hospital early on a Monday. 10 days after, I started working from home. 3 weeks after, I went back in to the office.

I could have started working from home much sooner, but I'm very glad I didn't rush back in to the office. Besides all the physical stuff, learning to eat again, etc., my tolerance for drama was at an all-time low, and there was some out-of-control crazy shit going on back in the office.

I am two days shy of two months post-op. I'm down 117.2 pounds from my high weight, and 43 since surgery. Another 5 pounds will put me exactly 1/3 of the way to my goal.

After a very frustrating two week stall, I've dropped 11 pounds in the past 5 days. I assume this was Water weight.

I'm getting between 80g and 100g of Protein a day, and just shy of 1000 calories / day. Water is still a struggle.

A few people at work, including the VP, have said it's time to get new clothes, so I did.

I've starting buying a few meals from My Fit Foods. I really like some of their stuff, especially the Protein snack pack with hummus, which is a perfectly sized meal for me. Protein-wise, some of their stuff is really great. Some of it may be nutritious, but is certainly not protein-dense. The meals I get have between 8g and 12g protein for every 100 calories.

I've also started drinking an EAS Myoplex ready-made each morning. This is 300 calories for 40g of protein. I found a 4-pack at CVS once, and now can only find them online. This works really well for me, since I get 1/2 my protein for the day first thing.

Congratulations Jason!

The EAS Myoplex is one of the few Protein shakes I like, I found them at my local Wal-Mart.

Another of my favorite are the Premier Protein Shakes, I found them at costco and each is 30g of Protein and only 160 calories.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
