American medicine equivalent? Mexican Ciproton (Pantoprazol 10mg) Heartburn/Antacid?

Recommended Posts

I am 5 weeks post-surgery, and just ran out of my medicine from the Mexican Pharmacy. I believe this is some sort of heartburn, acid reflux/antacid type pill. It has worked great (I take every morning and I can definately feel the acid reflux when I wake up until I take this pill), and I am hoping I can find something over the counter to replace it. Any suggestions?

Maybe a prescribed pill (I have to see dr again soon anyway), and something over the counter that I can go buy today without a prescription that has worked well for others.

Thanks in advance for the advice, and everyone have a Merry Christmas and/or Happy Holidays!

Pantoprazole is Protonix in the US and you do need a RX for it. My friend who had bypass 8 years ago still takes it every day. You may try Prilosec (omeprazole) until you can talk to your doctor about a prescription. I had surgery in Mexico, too, and was sent home with a 2 month supply of omeprazole 40mg. The OTC version is only 20mg, but that may be enough. Other people have had good luck with Nexium.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
