2 days post-op, can I drink more water?

Hi, my dr recommended I drink 64 oz every day by taking 1ml sips every 15 minutes. I'm still so flipping thirsty! I know not to take big chugs, but can in drink more frequently?

Don't push it just yet....your stomach needs to heal from the brutality of the surgery. If you have not checked out a Youtube video of sleeve surgery, you should do so to get a direct visual of what just happened. Even a mosquito bite swells, so just imagine how swollen and tender that new tummy is. What you could do is suck on a piece of ice or a popsicle in-between your sips.

I just drank as I tolerated. I would never have been able to be that particular...especially on pain pills!

I am two days postoperative. I am concerned because I don't think I am getting any protein. My clear liquid diet consists of water, broth, skim milk, diet jello, diet cranberry juice, and sugar free Popsicles. I would give anything for a protein shake, but I guess I can't have them yet. Does anyone know why?
