Thanks BG,

I'd be happy with a two pound loss so I could say it's an even 100# for 2007.

I'm working on getting my head out of my ass about eating crap. Today's perspective (I've been up for all of 2 hours) is better than the last couple of weeks. Yesterday I was writing on LBT on some thread about being comitted to losing...and I thought I needed to pay attention to my own words.

I hope to keep the focus clear for a while.

Happy Wednesday.

Honestly now that I hit 199 my outlook is a bit better. My eating has been better, though mostly because of the inability to eat before I have been up for 8 or so hours. coffee has helped too because it kills my appetite. I have been shooting for 3500 calories burned on my bodybugg because I know it will be damn hard for me to eat that much crap.

Hey Gang - sorry i haven't written in a while - just been in a big fucking funk & not wanting to share that vibe... Mostly pissed at myself for not exercising enough. With the BB, you'd think it would be easier - I know, with certainty, that I'm not burning enough calories. Why is it so damn hard, then to get on the bike, the treadmill, the weight bench, go for a walk, whatever the fuck to get the calorie burn where it should be... Anyway. Also need to lay off the starbucks. Do many calories, way too much sugar. Had to start taking insulin again. Anyway - enough of that happy crappy...

For my wonder twin power - "Form of a skinny bastard", followed closely by "Form of a winning lottery ticket" :)

BG - Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

JC - Glad to see you back. Glad also to hear that the churning of the butter continues :)

TX - Way to go on the bike riding! Did you get any snow on Thanksgiving - was at my folks in Hurst and it snowed for several hours - big fluffy cotton ball flakes. Too warm to stick, but it was pretty.

Thanks B, somebody has to do it!

J, I am a DORK I knew exactly what you were talking about referencing the Wonder Twins (That was my favorite cartoon at one time). I also I also uh Geocache. I guess that makes me a DorkGeekNerd.

I can't tell you guys how excited I am for BG's AWESOME accomplishment. YOU ROCK GIRL!!! I needed some uplifting weight loss victory news.

The holiday season is difficult with or without the band. Better with the band. There are just so many distractions, people coming out of the woodwork wanting a slice of your time and the insanity of the over abundance of food, not to mention the emptiness associated with missing so many loved ones.

I have been down because I haven't lost as much as I wanted to, then I reminded myself that I am kicking ass and don't even look or feel like the same person from just a year ago.

I seriously like the idea of the muddybuddy. I have not jogged in weeks, however I am staying active. Just not Modified Japanese Mach III worthy active.

My knew GF has agreed to start the Couch-2-5K so I am encouraged. It's probably good that I have backslid a little so that I am not as intimidating. Sometimes people don't mesh to the point of wanting to change the other. I told her she doesn't have to do every crazy thing that I do as long as she understands that it is part of my new life and she supports my need to stay active.

OK, back to work! Hope everyone is well.

JC

hehe, I at least know what Geocache means and yes, that gives you the Uber Geek Dork Nerd Master title.

Starbucks can be done, but you've got to be a pain in the ass and order non-fat milk, sugar free syrups...I can go on about the social implications of Starbuck Speak, but I'll spare you. Still unless you are drinking coffee or espresso black it's not guilt free.

I personally find the BB more annoying than helpful. It really turned for me when their rep told me that all nutrition labels lie. I'm like WTF is the point of keeping track. I need to not let some person towing the company line (blame something not the BB for a person's failure) mess with what I know to be te trurth. That is that essentially nutrition labels are acurate and it's a person's honesty that messes up the equation.

Also, I'm pretty sure my metabolism is jacked up, because I don't lose a pound for every 3500 saved. I just don't. I'm getting back to basics and trying to go super low calorie here after my fill to see how that works.

Love you guys.

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
