Has anyone taken up Bycyling?

I would love to be outside if it was not a huge sheet of ice. I slipped and slid to my car this morning which sucked royally. But once I get into doing longer runs I am going to have to go outside. The 6 miles on the indoor track were sheer hell, walls, gym, treadmills, weights, walls, gym, treadmill, weights for 60 fucking laps. I need scenery. But I need warmth too. You are a lucky shit some 175 miles south of me. It's gotta be a little bit warmer.

I'll get your ass to do a Tri. Maybe not next year but oh yes, Juli will be a bad ass.

BG - I aspire to doing a tri, also. If I can ever get to running, that is! My BIL runs marathons, so I asked him how you find them. Maybe you've seen this site? The American Triathlon Calendar It's pretty cool!

OK... all this damn RUNNING ya'll do... Have you heard of John Bingham? (John "The Penguin" Bingham) Very interesting. Im going to get a couple of his books and see what kind of running courage I can muster up! My dad was telling me that he wants to start running 1/2 marathons this Spring. I'd love to run with him. (My dad has lost 100 pounds this year by pure will and calorie counting. He still probably weighs about 400 pounds and is 52 years old.) ANyway... Keep talking about running yo! You get me all excited!

ZZ,

Bitch, get your ass in gear! Get moving. Don't make me come get you. How are you going to Goddess your way into spring if you sit on your ass on winter.

Hup, hup...get a move on.

Hugs and Kisses.

Hey, my workout partner is 52 years old and he weighed over 300 pounds when he started working out. Now he's the most "cut up" guy in the gym! A real big powerhouse whose body fat percentage I would guess at about 5% or less! So your dad can do it!

Also, let me know what you read...I am looking for that one special piece of inspiration to get me pounding the streets. The cold won't bother me a bit to run.

Run Injury Free with Jeff Galloway: Your Complete Running Resource. Marathon Training, Half Marathon Training, 10K Training.

Excellent running program IMO. I have his book on running and his marathon book and both are very good reads. I also have a running for woman book by I think Claire something who is an editor at running world magazine.

Awe hell, I feel like Ohio is freaking tropical compared.

I'm running outside today. It's wet but about 40 degrees. Mind you we should get some snow this weekend...but it really doesn't stick around until the end of January/February.

Tomorrow is the last bit of school I have until January 28th...do you know how happy that makes me????

What a difference a week makes!!!

Last week's pulling of my head out of my ass seems to have paid off...

In the last week, I have -

  • Lost 7 pounds. More than I lost in October and November, combined.
  • Bought the bike that I would have bought if I hadn't been so big when I was originally looking
  • Ridden my bike or exercise bike 6 of the 7 days since then. Walked 40 minutes or more for 5 of those days.
  • Accomplished more at work than I have in the past month
  • Generally have that spring in my step that has been missing for the past month or so.

Bike on...

B

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
