BG, the entry level bike, which is what I ride is very forgiving. I think I got the hang of it after the first 5-6 miles. You can ride them right away it's the little things you have to learn, like keeping your arms still if you turn your head. I think it just looks more awkward than it really is. I will let you try mine out when I get up there and you'll see what I'm talking about.

J, you are right, I will work harder today during my afternoon session.

HP, good to see you checked in, those long days are a nightmare. Congrats on the smaller sizes!!!! I know that is a sweet feeling.

hit sent,

con't post.

THEY LOVE RIDING. And when I was 300+, 5'2'' woman, so as wide as I was tall, I was NEVER antagonized or eye rolled at, going into a store and asking questions. I shopped in 4 different stores and talked to a bunch of bike people before I got my bike.

Talk to them!

Job,

Like I said in the other thread, almost any conventional steel bike will be strong enough to hold a larger rider. Like Juli said, visit the local bike shops. I went to several and spent about 4 hours at the shop I finally bought my bike from. The sales guy had me ride half-a-dozen bikes. Even though, on paper, they were all similar, there were several that just didn't fit right, a few more that fit okay, but didn't inspire me, and finally, I found the bike that fit right and whispered "ride me" in my ear. That's the bike I bought. Another advantage of visiting your LBS is that they may have a selection of used bikes, which will allow your bike-buying dollar to go a little farther.

Bitch ass work, getting in the way. HP, I too have had to focus more while at work, but alas, no 11.5 hour days for me.

What is it that you do?

I am more afraid of being talked into riding somebody's Mountain Bike, while my bike leaves me in the dust.

Work bites!

HP that is awesome!!! I just bought my first pair of "real" misses size jeans from Old Navy (non stretch). I love their clothes.

I love Old Navy too. I had on a pair on low rise dress pants yesterday from there and I LOVED them.

But the low rise I liked because it helps with the muffin top, you know the roll a WLS woman can get above the waste of her pants. Too much loose-ness in the skin thing.

Okay, talking clothing...I think I've talked about not having bought new panties yet....It's generally not a problem, and I did try but Target only had white granny panties in my size, (and I buy package-panties, not hanger or table panties, because I'm cheap) and I've not been able to get to other stores lately, so I didn't get any yet. Bottom line is I'm still wearing GIANT underwear.

Well, I did get some rather short exercise shorts. They have a 3 inch inseam, so they are short...but longer ones don't work.. Well, yesterday for the first time, the panties were hanging lower than the shorts!!!! I had to roll the waste band! HA.

Calm down boys, I know, that's HOT. :eyebrows:

Just wait Juli soon you will want to buy the table panties because your low rise pants will slip down while you are sitting so you need a cute thong underneath them, right? lol

I bet JC is gonna get all excited about the underwear talk again.

I have not shopped at Old Navy since the last time I was thinner (18,19 years old) They never used to have plus sizes there.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
