Protien, water & vitamin intake

Recommended Posts

Was sleeved on 12/1 and discharged 12/3. Not having any complications but I have a problem with all the Protien shakes I have tried. Either too sweet or too milky tasting. Tried Unjury (all flavors), Premier Protien (vanilla & chocolate) and one from Vitamin Shoppe. I have one more week of liquids n that will include starting back work. I know this can't be okay. Times I cry sometimes I laugh at what I have done to myself. Just can't end up back in hospital. Somebody help everything just taste terrible!

Premier Protein is the only one I like. I drank it for two weeks pre-surgery and I'm 5 weeks out still loving them...but only chocolate!

How about an unflavored that you can put in Jello, crystal light or juice? Of course, unjury has one, but there are others as well. I don't know about your plan, but I was on Clear Liquids for a week, then full liquids for two...full liquids included yogurt - I would mix Protein powder in plain Greek yogurt. That was a nice change from the shakes

Are you on full liquids? I would drink my shakes during the day and at night I had pureed bean Soup. That savory break in the evening was the only thing that got me through and I only had to do full liquids for 2 weeks.

The Premire shakes saved me... I wouldn't say they were amazing, but they were easy to get down.

I'm day 3 pre-op and I'm using Premier Protein. I also blend mines with extracts to give it different tastes. They r really good with the extracts.

Yes tried Unflavored & put in crystal light and jello. Haven't been able to stomach juices either. Gonna ask tomorrow about yogurt. Thanks

Full liquids 2 weeks but I don't think I can do anything pureed yet

I was allowed the bean Soup since it was more liquid-y then mushy. I made my own so I had to start with pureeing the Beans, then I strained out the skins, mixed it with a bit of vegetable broth and drank it. I don't eat meat but maybe you could do something like a cream of chicken soup or at the very least chicken or beef broth. It's not going to be a big Protein push, but I got in most of my Protein early on with the shakes so it balanced out. I was also allowed yogurt when I was in the full liquid stage.

Double check with your medical team and see if that's allowed. Just being able to break up the monotony of sweet made a big difference.

Yes I will check because what I'm doing now isn't working. I know I can't do what I did last week again this week and not be back at hospital. Somethings gotta change. Thanks

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
