I JUST COULDN'T RESIST.

1. AVOID CUTTING YOURSELF WHEN SLICING VEGETABLES BY GETTING SOMEONE ELSE TO HOLD THE VEGETABLES WHILE YOU CHOP.

2. AVOID ARGUMENTS WITH THE FEMALES ABOUT LIFTING THE TOILET SEAT BY USING THE SINK.

3. FOR HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE SUFFERERS ~ SIMPLY CUT YOURSELF AND BLEED FOR A FEW MINUTES, THUS REDUCING THE PRESSURE ON YOUR VEINS. REMEMBER TO USE A TIMER.

4. A MOUSE TRAP PLACED ON TOP OF YOUR ALARM CLOCK WILL PREVENT YOU FROM ROLLING OVER AND GOING BACK TO sleep AFTER YOU HIT THE SNOOZE BUTTON.

5. IF YOU HAVE A BAD COUGH, TAKE A LARGE DOSE OF laxatives. THEN YOU'LL BE AFRAID TO COUGH.

6. YOU ONLY NEED TWO TOOLS IN LIFE - WD-40 AND DUCT TAPE. IF IT DOESN'T MOVE AND SHOULD, USE THE WD-40. IF IT SHOULDN'T MOVE AND DOES, USE THE DUCT TAPE.

7. IF YOU CAN'T FIX IT WITH A HAMMER, YOU'VE GOT AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM.

DAILY THOUGHT: SOME PEOPLE ARE LIKE SLINKIES - NOT REALLY GOOD FOR ANYTHING...

BUT THEY BRING A SMILE TO YOUR FACE WHEN PUSHED DOWN THE STAIRS .

Hi everyone... are you getting excited for your MOA trip? You'll have a great time!

I can't believe its been a year since our banding. What a year! I wouldn't change this for anything.

I've started the Couch to 5k challenge, learning to run through interval training. I didn't think I'd be able to do it, but I tried it yesterday, and was so proud of myself. I'm still very heavy, so was worried about my knees, but no problem. I even got the runner's high afterwards! Tomorrow is my 2nd run... and I'm so psyched for it!

I've exercised everyday this week, which is the first time I've done that since being banded. I know... you guys have been... but I was a slow starter in this area. So now I'm building the habit!

Enjoy your trip!

Candice... love the photos you sent!

Hey Kristen - I was wondering about you - I thought I p.m. you a while back- Your fur babie is cute - I voted - Please try and come back- tomorrow's you Band Anniversay !!!

Phyl - Went to the dentist - and finally made it to El Paseo (it's the Rodeo Dr of the Desert - All you non-Ca or USA pple know Rodeo Dr) Went to a store called Black & White - and I think it's setting in that I am small - I can go get a size 6 and it fits... Even White jeans.. Then went across the street and visited with my GF who I haven't seen in ages - in fact she's my son's godmother - We have been friends since 3rd grade... I say Creative Salon and thougth to myself -that's where kathy works.. So visited her for a while.. Then went to the mall - go a dress for $ 17 and OH YA bought a PALM SPRINGS LIFE MAGAZINE - My interview is in it... I will copy on Monday when I go to work and scan and attached... But that was it - all the stores are having summer clearances - and not much to choose from - came home...

Candice - The bugs are that bad to have to where that netting - OMW I have never been anywhere that bugs were that bad - I would not like that how could I smoke in that suit

Steph

Well - when we go to the QVC store - I will show you what to do :biggrin2:

Kari

Good evening ladies. Haven't been around much today. I don't know why but I was exhausted today. Niece and I went for our 4 mile trek this morning. She would only go if I promised not to run. How crazy was that? But we walked very quickly. We got finished almost as quickly as when we ran.

But then the rest of the day I was pretty tired. Finally laid down with the kids when they took a nap...and I'm still very tired. I don't know what's going on. It's raining so I'm not walking tonight. Glad we walked this morning.

Kathy, good for you on the exercise. You don't have to feel bad about getting a late start....any start is better than where you were this time last year.

Janet. I'm hoping to get my new Laura Geller before we leave. It's an auto delivery and they were back ordered. It was supposed to be shipped yesterday and I'm trying to not look so I won't be disappointed if it's not here. But I'm really looking forward to the qvc store. I want to find sosme diamonique...but want to try it on before I buy it. I don't even know what size fingers I have.

Phyl, is dd feeling alright today? I'm sure you're worried about her.

Okay...going to watch a movie with hubby after we get the kiddos in bed. I'll be in and out. Have a good Friday night ladies.

Candice your picture is great. I climbed a mountain about the same height as yours 2 years ago. It was an exhilerating feeling. Fortunately we didn't have the bugs

Phyl - I hope your DD is feeling better and that you are getting some rest.

Steph - Sorry you are so tired. I know the feeling. My PS warned me that for some reason you can feel really drained of energy during the 3rd week after PS. I totally get it. I am exhausted. Didn't help that we went and saw the midnight showing of The Dark Knight last night. TOTALLY worth it though. If anyone has a chance to see the movie they should. It was seriously the best movie I have ever seen.

Janet - I tried to do a little shopping yesterday, but it is so overwhelming to me. I am freaked out a little bit cause I have 1 pair of size 4 pants that fit nicely when I am swollen and are a little big when I am not. Then I have 3 shirts that fit. That is it. My closet looks totally bare. Right now I am wearing my ultra fat clothes (Yep some of the ones I wore before surgery) to lounge around the house in. My binders are so tight so it is nice to have some loose fitting clothes on. We went to JC Pennys and Target yesterday and I couldn't bring myself to buy anything. DH had an interview yesterday and should hear sometime next week if he got the job. I SOOOOO hope he does. Right now I am paying every bill and believe me...teachers don't make that much money.

Well the drainage has stopped gushing today. I have to "milk" my tummy area 3 times per day though to try and squeeze the drainage out. PS thinks that we may have pulled out the drains a little too soon even though I was WAY under the drainage volume. So I just tell everyone that I sprung a leak. I have to say I was a little worried when it happened yesterday. PS said that it isn't unheard of but when you have fluids coming out of your belly...it is scary as hell.

Well I am going to try and convince hubby to let me go for a walk tonight. We opted to not go last night because of the leakage. I would like to go for a bit today though.

Karri, When we were at the mall on Monday, Herbergers was having 70% off everything on sale. Those same sales should be going on at Sears. I don't know if you guys have Herberger's out there. The bigger national chains should be having great sales right now.

I can't send you anything...I'm way to big for you. I'd help if I could.

Hope you get to go on your walk. It will be so cathartic for you!

Good Morning Gang..

No sleep for the wicked... Between GS coming home (dogs barking) then getting in the pool (more barking) then getting back to sleep then dogs wanting up on the bed - I have been up since 5:30 :scared2:

Now getting ready to head to the gym to meet with my trainer partner (my trainer want me to get her motivated)

Today's agenda - Nails - food shopping - gf coming over tonite for dinner and video.... Maybe I can get a nap in..

Steph - I love diamonique - I but lost one once (on my honeymoon) and I was sick for weeks - still get sick when I think about it (they were my stepmom's) -have diamond earrings (dh replaced the ones i lost) - so now my earrings are diamonique.. If I lose one so what - and know one would know the diff...

Karri

I am just still so in awe of my body - I just can't beleive I am a six - when I get ps (yes i am doing it Monday going to call the p.s. that my doc referred me to to make an appt - eye - arms and the 2 major areas - but will ck the cost for body lift and boob lift - don't want fake boobs but would like them lifted I don't care that they are small) After all that I would be less than a 4 too - you are most likely a 2 now.

Ok just ck'd the time - I gotta split...

Oh Janet; You are too funny... Smoking in the BUG NET!! O.k. girl you wanna climb a mountain you need to dump those smokes over the first cliff you come to!! ;-)

Seriously, the bugs were especially bad this year as we have had record amount of rainfall ( Global warming screwed our seasons up, I think) anyways, I am just a real suck when it comes to bug bites... it will ruin my whole day if I keep getting pestered by them... hence I wore the bug suit so I could "REALLY" enjoy my climb. Honestly, it was such hard work that a bear could have taken a hunk out of me and I dont' think I would have noticed!!

You'll notice in the pictures I sent that my DH and Dear BIL were NOT wearing bug suits - just my sister and I ( the whinners)

My husband is still calling me "Princess"...

Nothing wrong with being a Princess - You are...

Not ready to give up my cigs - I can do 10 incline on the treadmill so I can climb the mountain :biggrin2:

I wouldn't like to bugs either ... So I would have to spray myself with deat (sp) and wear the bug suit...

--------------------------------------------------------------------

Ok back from gym - I really prefer to workout alone - my partner is just starting and it's slowing me down some (only did 2 miles today) and I miss listening to my music - I did put in one ear phone for like 2 songs - but feel it's rude to be listening to music and she isn't. Hopefully next Tues when she comes - she will have her ipod...

Well, I gotta get in the shower and get ready for my day - it's 84 with 72% humdity - feels like 92 - yesterday car said it was 115 so our summer has finally arrived :wink2:- got my elect bill but havent opened it yet:confused:

Well - I am off - CBL :scared2:

Good Evening Ladies

I am gettin jealous hearing about the MofA trip. I wanna go!! You guys better take pictures........lots of them.........and post them.

CANDACE - Are you taking 69 to 96 from Port Huron to Muskegan? Maybe if you have enough time, we could meet for coffee or water.......before or after your trip. Cell # 734-904- 8616.

JANET - Loved the picture. You are smoking, girl!!! I tried drsses on the other day. i'm nowhere close to a 6. Try XL. I am back to normal and feeling great. Although, after the gym yesterday and sweating a lot, I had to do some fast talking to myself cause I wanted to stop at the corner store and get a frozen coke so I didn't get dehydrated again. LOL

At the Art Fair, they had a Wii booth where you could try out the Wii fit. DH tried to talk me into it, but I guess I was feeling pretty rotten then cause I wanted no part of it.

Sure wish you could join us. Sounds like you're not too far away. I just looked at the map to see where Port Huron & Muskegon are.

Boy!! Candice has a LONG drive!!

I am not having a good food day.

Our Primetimers group had a "country breakfast" at someone's home this morning. There were about 60 of us there. We had to sit in sort of an awkward location and nothing was getting passed to us. So I started with what was in front of me.... biscuit and gravy! I only put a little gravy on one half of a small biscuit. It was after 10 a.m. and I was starving. Then I had some (cold) scrambled eggs and a small sausage patty. I tried a bite of cantelope then and it almost came up... didn't agree with me, and it set the scene for the rest of the day! Several hours later I was getting hungry for lunch so I had 1/2 a deviled egg. Felt stuck again. And it's just been kind of a miserable day stomach wise. DH gave me a 3 oz glass of wine a couple of hours ago and it's still sitting next to me. I look at it every now and then, but do desire to drink it or anything else! Had a small piece of fish and an ear of corn tonight. Tight day, I guess.

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
