Congrats Janet! Happy Bandiversary!

If anyone is interested, I put pictures from surgery on my blog last night. If you have a sensitive stomach though you might not want to check them out. But there is a picture of all the skin that they removed. HOLY cow...there was a lot of skin.

I saw them last night. Holy cats!!! It was amazing. I'm glad I've watched Big Medicine" though so that they weren't quite so .... shocking.

Pretty amazing though. I think they are something very cool to show everyone.

As per weighing in at WW I'm Down 50 lbs TODAY!!! WOOHOO!

YAY! I'm glad things are going well for you. Once in a while when I'm at the gym I like to pick up one of the weights equal to the amount of weight I've lost just to see how heavy it is. It's shocking! :Banane03: It's also getting harder and harder to pick them up the more weight I lose. Even with working out to build my muscles. :)

Wow! Those pictures are amazing. I've watched a lot of plastic surgery shows and am always surprised at how much they take off. I can only imagine what it would be like for you to see your own body bits on the table like that. :) I don't mind watching these show and seeing other people go through it all, but I'm not sure I could watch myself. :Banane03: You're a brave girl. I'll probably ask for pics to be taken when it's my time, but I'm not sure I'll have the courage to look at them. Still..... I think it's important to have them just in case I do.

I've had a busy day today. I did my usual 30 mins on the treadmill this morning. Came home, showered and had a Protein Shake, then walked up to our local Tom Thumb to buy some things that aren't available at the SuperTarget that I normally go to. Tom Thumb is a little over a mile away. I wanted to get there and back while the weather was still cool (high 80s:tongue2:). I took a bottle of Water with me because I didn't want to dehydrate. Well that was all gone by the time I got there, so I had to buy another bottle for my trip home. I'm very particular about my bottled water, I don't like Darsani or Fiji or anything else that has magnesium in it. I can taste it. :) I usually drink Ozarka. Well they didn't have any single bottles that were cold. It took me forever to find something that wasn't soda and didn't have magnesium in it. I settled for a bottle of berry flavored Propel.

So already today I've had 40oz of water. I probably could have done without my morning treadmill workout, but I think I've become addicted to that routine and feel weird if I don't start my day off that way. :Banane03:

Don't forget to drink your water today ladies. That summer weather just sucks all the moisture out of us.

Sounds just like my day. DH and I went to the Ann Arbor art Fair today. They close off the downtown streets and artists from all over the country show their stuff. It was sunny, hot and humid. And on our way back to the shuttle bus, (we got lost) I got super dizzy and thought I was going to pass out. They called EMS and they transported me to the ER. Dehydration. Just got home around 10:00 tonight. Didn't eat too much today so we'll see what the scale says in the morning. That is how I celebrated my bandiversary.

Kari, Gosh that must have been frightening... I hope you feel better today!

Good Morning Ladies

Today is my Bandanniversary and my weigh in day

Guess what great present I got this morning - the scale has finally moved downwards for the 1st time since 6/26 - Drum roll please !!!!

148 - bmi 25.4 - only .4 away from normal !!!!!

That's a pretty damn good anniversary present...

- I haven't been here since my early 20's...

Fantastic!!! Congratulations!!

I have not been doing my walking but I am very active outside most of the day and then swimming in our pool outside and REALLY watching what I eat. The food department as been awsome. I got a fill about 2 months ago and it was great but after losing 22 lbs I went back in last week for a tweek because I was feeling the hunger more often. I am trying to stay ahead of the game with my fills and my PA told me that I was doing great and it great that I am staying ahead with them.

OK I have to brag about this. Last Friday night we when to the casino (wrong thing to do because we lost AGAIN!!!!) I was setting at a machine and this nice looking man came and sat down next to me and started playing. He wasn't winning but I was and he said 'I am going to get a drink could I buy you a drink pretty lady?" I said no thank you and he said are you sure I don't mind? I again said no. And then he asked me to hold his seat. I held his seat and then got up shortly after he got back because I am married and all so I went looking for DH but I did feel good and told DH all about it. Oh course he stayed RIGHT by my side the rest of the time we were there. HAHA

OK I gotta go. I am going to mow the lawn. I will be back on more often. I am always thinking of you all. Sorry I have been gone so long. I am still trying to see if I would be able to just pop up to mofa for just one day during the day to meet everyone. Money is really tight but I am trying to finagle it. I don't want to get my hopes up though. But next year...........Vegas?...............count me in baby!!

So good to have you back!!

Hope you can make it to M of A!!

We'd be so glad to see you!

Sounds like you're doing great!

If anyone is interested, I put pictures from surgery on my blog last night. If you have a sensitive stomach though you might not want to check them out. But there is a picture of all the skin that they removed. HOLY cow...there was a lot of skin.

WOW!! Us nurses like to look at gory stuff like that!!

Amazing!!

I think I would've like a job in forensics, too!!

YAY! I'm glad things are going well for you. Once in a while when I'm at the gym I like to pick up one of the weights equal to the amount of weight I've lost just to see how heavy it is. It's shocking! ;) It's also getting harder and harder to pick them up the more weight I lose. Even with working out to build my muscles. :)

Now there is an interesting thought!!

I watched my 19 yr old GS lift 75 lb weights over his head last night, and listened to all the grunting and groaning and watched the pained expression on his face as he lifted first the right arm, then the left, etc.

I've tried just to MOVE those stupid weights because he keeps them on the floor under DD's sewing machine table. I want to tell you.. I couldn't budget them and had to work around them to use the sewing machine!!

So, every time he lifted one... that was just a few pounds less than what I've lost so far!!

Speaking of interesting... it's been an interesting week!!

Back to DD's late lat night & ended up spending the night.

After her severals days with suspected food poisoning,

she decided she wanted Chinese food when she was feeling better yesterday. So she & SIL went out for lunch, which she finished at dinner.< /span>

About 10:30 pm we had a panic call from SIL wanting us to come over because the EMTs were there and about to take DD to ER again!!

She had sudden onset of SEVERE chest pain and thought she was having a heart attack! EKG, etc proved otherwise, but not much sleep for any of us! We had to stay there because of 5 yr old foster child there & GS wasn't home yet. He came in soon after, but we just stayed at th house and waited for word that everything was okay! I'm TIRED!!!

Janet,

Keeping you in my prayers. When is the appt??

Going RIGHT NOW to get my hair trimmed & highlighted.

Getting SO excited about next week!!

Can't wait to get on that train!!

Looking forward to the M of A and

Plotting & planning with my sisters, etc. things to do when we get to Buffalo!

My sister from OR decided to come, too. So all four of us will be together.

That will be fun... maybe challenging, too, since two don't get along too well!!

We'll be drinking some wine and playing some Scrabble!!

And going out for a fish fry!! :);):thumbup::eek::drool::eek:

Why am I NOT at the M of A today???? QVC is having a GREAT tsv today and I promised myself I wouldn't buy anything from there before our trip. It's killing me! These shoes are sooooo awesome!

I have always been a shoe freak. I think it's because I could try those on even when everything looked horrible and my size was increasing every single time...they weren't on my feet. And I could find cute shoes. They were the only thing that weren't horrible.

My niece came today. She leaves in three weeks for the Air Force. I'm so proud of her. I could almost burst with the pride. It's crazy. You would think she was my child. She is so beautiful...such a doll....so smart....so driven. I'm really going to miss her. She's staying through the weekend. She has promised to push me really hard while she's here. Walking in the morning....wii at noon....walking in the evening. I'm helping her get ready for basic in Texas...she's helping me get down a size for the trip. She was really impressed at my 4 miles with the running included. It was so great for her to be impressed with me. She's in phenomenal shape and she is proud of me. How awesome is that?

I had a great food day. Breakfast was about 1/2 a cup of kashi and blueberry. lunch was about a cup of chicken salad....over an hour or so. dinner was half of a Aidelle's chicken sausage. snack was a couple pieces of beef Jerky. Did have a couple bites of son's dilly bar, but only maybe 3 tops. Am working on my last bottle of Water. Exercised at lunch and walked tonight....so 2 sessions today.

Janet, I hope you did something amazing for your bandiversary. Jackie, I'm so glad you are back and can't tell you how exciting I'm finding the idea that maybe you might make it up for a day with us at the mall. I hope you can make an afternoon of it. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Phyl, I hope your DD is feeling better today. This all has to be so scary. Not knowing is always distressing. I'm keeping you all in my prayers.

Okay....I'd better head off. Have a great day tomorrow. I'll be on and off.

Peaches!!!! Great news. So exciting for you!

Janet, a make up party sounds like a lot of fun. I think I'd be a make up whore too but get way to impatient when nothing looks like the way the people on tv do it. Have fun today doing girly things. I always said I wasn't a girly girl but I'm getting a little more girly with every pound I lose. I think it was more, I didn't want to feel like I COULDN'T be girly when I was fat....I wanted it to be MY decision.

Karri, glad it was just seeping. It would have been very disconcerting. I'm so glad your ps is so great about seeing you and emailing and talking to you. That is just beyond awesome! I hope you're feeling stronger each day.

Well, going to get out and do my walk. My niece isn't up yet, but I'll see if she wants to go. Teenagers you know....hehehehee. Have a great day!!!!

Told my PA about it at my appt the other day and she never heard of it.

After the first two days, you really get in to it, don't you?!

It's kind of exhilarating.

DD is much better but still getting her strength back. She is still insistent it was all food poisoning, but I think something else. We'll see. If she's right, it won't come back!

Enjoy your vacation day.

Makeup.... never one of my strong suits! I do my best. Got my hair trimmed last night, and blonde highlights, which she overdid a little! A little lighter than I wanted, but it looks good. Afraid to tell DH what it cost and so far he hasn't asked!!

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
