Lucky # Sevens- July 07 Bandsters

Recommended Posts

Hi all, I met my mini goal last week, I have just been out of town for the last several days and didn't have internet access. I had to go Wed to Wed because I didn't have a scale to weigh on Thursday. In one week I went from 206.5 to 204. When I got home today I stepped on the scale it was down to 202. I am only 2 pounds away from onederland. My original goal was to be below 200 by Christmas! Blew that one out of the water:clap2::clap2::bounce::bounce:

WAY TO GO!!!

Isn't our band wonderful? I love these "surprises." Onederland is just around the corner!

No darling I think the pictures would tell the whole story:omg:

I think us older ones will win this one hands down - Linda doesn't post her age - but I think she is around my age - seems like it has come up in conversation before - Blooeyez sorry but us 50+ are going to win this one and if i were you I wouldn't even want to enter.. Ya gotta give us old gals some credit - we are losing weight for our health and we want to look good too - but even if we were thin our skin would be sagging but add on that we have been fat most of our lives our skin is really streached to the limits - too bad saggin & baggin skin isn't cool like saggin & baggin pants that the kids wear now a days - Hey 50+ ladies - we will start our own fad - :biggrin1:

BlooEyez - I know that the day of my fill didn't feel anything but the next day it kicks is - My doc makes you go back to postop diet 7 days full liquids - 7 days mushie - 7 days soft & then regular.

I had my 2nd fill on the 24th and still have restriction but it has loosen up. Where do you live?? if you are only 1 1/2 from TJ - LA or Orange ???

My doc requires liquids for the remainder of the fill day then mushies the next day ... I usually stay on liquids for a few days anyway just to give myself time to adjust.

I had a hard time earlier this evening ... took well over an hour just to drink a 16oz bottle of Water ... and then my dinner (blended chili w/ water to make it thin) wasn't wanting to go down either. If things don't improve by tomorrow I'm going back for an unfill because this is just too uncomfortable. It's not so much the inconvenience of not being able to eat but it's the excrutiating pain and tightness in the chest ... geez you'd think I tried to eat a hamburger or something as much as it hurts ...

I live in Menifee which is in Riverside County just north of the Murrieta/Temecula area.

Hi all!!!!! Had my fill today. AAAHHHHH RELIEF!! LOL She only put .5 cc in but I can definately tell a difference. It is almost 10pm and I am not ready to raid the kitchen!!! I am down 3 pounds since last Friday. Saturdays work must have done omething to get me going again. I am hoping that combined with the fill will keep me going.

Dini and chim so great to hear from you guys again. I miss everyone so much. I don't come on a whole lot either. I try to make it a point to check in and read up on posts every day or two at least.

I too have the dreaded bat wings. I am mushy as hell to. Definately need some strength training to tone up.

Well I am off to bed. Have an early meeting in the AM and have to drive an hour to get there. YUCK!!!!!!!!!!! I am not a morning person.:bored

Today was not a good day. I ate a boca burger with a piece of diet bread for lunch and my gosh darn teeth must have been out on strike cause they certainly didn't chew enough. :faint: As soon as I swallowed I knew I was in BIG trouble. I must have sat there for at least 15 minutes in TERRIBLE pain. I just kept swallowing and praying that it didn't come back up. It was seriously the worst pain I have had since being banded. I couldn't finish my burger and I probably shouldn't have eaten dinner. I ate dinner a few hours ago and since then I feel like I have a basketball in my stomach. I tried drinking something (after my hour was up) to see if that would help but no such luck. So now I just feel awful. If I feel like this tomorrow, I am going to go on liquids for a couple of days. If nothing else it will drop me into onederland!!!!! Maybe not though. If I don't get close to 1000 cals, I don't lose a thing. That is going to be a problem for me today as well. I got about 600. I know, not good, but the thought of eating anything right now makes me want to cry. I will let you know how I am feeling better, but if anyone has any thoughts about what I should do, I am more than willing to listen and try!

BlooEyez you may be too tight - try only warm/hot liquids for a day and if you don't loosen up go get a tad unfilled... Yes I know where you are - we drove through there on our was to San Diego in February - You know where I am don't you - Riverside County too.. Indio - Palm Desert - Palm Springs - i think we may be about 60 -80 miles from each other...:guess

Ok, Here's the thing: Yes, I a young 55, and I carried a lot of weight in my upper body--especially shoulders and arms. I usually wear tops 1-2 sizes larger than bottoms. Sooo, as the weight comes off, the bat wings take on a life of their own. Even when I lost the weight 15 years ago, there was no way I could wear sleeveless tops, and I don't expect to this time either.

Janet--good for you for keeping off the scale all week. I hope you are rewarded on Thursday!

My last fill was Sept 4, so I don't think I am too tight. Though in the middle of the last month I had this issue too. When I get under a lot of stress, I seem to get really tight and then top that off with the fact that my teeth didn't chew and it leaves me in a not so great spot. I was hoping that I would wake up this morning and feel better, but I actually feel worse. So, Soup it is for at least today. We will see how I feel then. Stress at work is very unbearable right now so that isn't helping the situation. Anyways, I will let you know what is going on.

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
