today is a little better for me. I ended up calling the doctor because the gas pains were so bad. So far this has no been a cake walk, but I hope the next day or 2 improves how I feel. I am taking only tylenol now for pain and gas x strips. I am having trouble eating. Everything tastes lousy.I have lost 6 lbs in 2 days.

cate54 have you tried using a heating pad on your back or shoulders (or wherever your gas pains are if they are on your back)? That is what I did and it sure helped.

Aza, congrats on your date! Welcome to our group. This is an awesome group, so feel free to get comfy and jump in.

Hey gang. I have been one busy bee. I won't stay still. I've been out and about w/my dad, visiting family. What's up w/that??? I just can't stay still. I've had some Muscle Milk and Water for Breakfast, and cream of broccoli for lunch. I'm still trying to figure out this full/satisfied thing. With time, I'm sure I'll get it. I've been drinking since I woke up. It may be hard for me to get in all the necessary Water. I feel so full after a few sips.

For dinner, I'll probably have a bit more cream of broccoli Soup.

I'm starting to feel a little gassy. Maybe TMI, but I went #2 the day after surgery. Of course, liquids in, liquids out, but I went. I went again today, too. I'm still staying at my parents b/c I just feel more comfortable right now being here.

I hope everyone's doing well. I will be back later to check in w/ya'll.

Welcome back, Lynette!!! Missed you!!! System Recovery usually does help! I have had to do that several times, I really didn't lose anything, unless something was added after the date I recovered to!

Chim and Kathy so glad your back safe and sound.

Kathy sounds like you're breezing right through it.

I decided i'm not taking the pain med from my doctor anymore. It makes me have vivid dreams. Last night I dreamed someone was taking my chair, and I woke up grabbing for it and screaming chair.

Mango,

Hey, that's not sooo bad!!! Maybe it was your favorite chair and a comfy one at that, lol!!!! No, seriously, those pain meds do make you kind of goofy!!! LOL:confused:

I have an employee who is retiring on Tuesday after 31 years with our company. So I have to be there Mon & Tue for some final meetings with her and her party.

Since I didn't share what I was doing with any of my staff, just my boss, I didn't have a reason to not be there.

How is it in the mushy stage? How much do you eat at a time? Do you feel satisfied? How long can you go in between meals without getting hungry?

Hi Y'all. I am back. Thanks for all the well wishes and prayers. They worked. I am doing great. My stomach feels like I did about 100 sit ups. Sore, sore, sore. No gas pains or shoulder pains. My incisions are all real small. The port incision is left side below the ribs and is 1 1/2 to 2 inches.

Went in at 8:30 am yesterday. When they gave me some meds and said they were taking me to OR I don't remember anything til I got to my room. I had absolutely no nausea. They had me on a Demerol drip but I didn't press for extra.

Got up and walked 2 times yesterday afternoon and evening. The nurses seemed surprised. Had sips of Water yesterday. They did a xray this morning to check the patency of the band. Boy, that stuff is nasty. Everything looked great so I got clear liquid breakfast.. Walked again this morning. I had to also wait until my doc finished surgery to be discharged. Got out of there about 3 pm. Went to the pharmcy to fill my pain med. Don't really need it but I was afrain I might and not have it.

It took me forever to catch up on the messages. I am glad to see everyone is doing well post op. Feels great to be on the Loser's Bench.

TMI, I already had a BM today. I think I am going to be on the non-constipated side of the fence.

:help:So I have a question for those of you that already have your bands. I have been banded for 9 days now. I keep getting this feeling of pressure in my chest ans sometime when I burp right between my breasts it hurts. Anyone else having this? I am guessing it is still gas that is being released since I didn't burp a lot before surgery. I dont have any acid or indigestion or anything. Anyone else experiencing this?

Sorry, so late getting back to you!!! My DH came home and I had to feed him, lol! Wasn't a hard one though, he had lunchmeat sandwiches and some Pasta leftover from lunch today and I had pasta. So actually pretty easy, lol!!! It's the cleanup and putting away that is the killer, lol!:)

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
