Lynette, How cute!!! I bet it is a hoot to hear him talk!

About your honey, so sorry he has to deal with headaches like that! They definitely will ruin your day!!! They stop you right in your tracks! I used to have Migraines all the time, but last few years they haven't really bothered me, thank goodness!

dmtjet, how close to the OHIO border are you in PA??

I believe 3 to 4 hours. Bottom of PA on the Ohio side. Not really that far. We used to go to Sea World quite a bit when the girls were young and my hubby was born in Euclid, Ohio.

I heard it was gone, but didn't they make it a Six Flags? I thought I heard that, but may be wrong! Yeah, really your aren't that far away! We need to map it all out and see just where everyone is! I find it amazing that we come from different places, different times zones, different backgrounds, nationalities, beliefs, customs, etc. and we all come together due to one little band!!! It is awesome! We are people that would have NEVER even touched one another's lives any other way!!! I find it mind boggling and just the neatest!!! Night again!!!! :notagree

Wow, great minds think alike. I love Red Lobster too... was there last week. My DH prefers sushi (which I love too), but my mom was from Newfoundland, so lobster is in my blood!!!!

Jeanie & Sunny, we'll have to meet at a Red Lobster some day!

We have to grab Lynette, too. She said it was her favorite place :biggrin1:

Icy, I'm just joking with you. I'm actually from OHIO, born and raised. Came to KY when I met my DH about 7 years ago. I have picked up on the southern accent very well, but not to the point where I say "Y'all" and things like that. It comes and goes. My son however, is all Kentuckian. He's a little hick as we call them!!

allright...don't know y'all. You may have noticed I type it all the time. I just don't know what word to substitute. I was born and raised in Savannah Ga and have the southern accent to prove. Works very well up north with guys..;)

I am glad to know y'all have decided to slip on down into the gutter with me. Jeanie, I am like you. I can see the naughty side in alot written here. Makes me laugh out loud :) :)

Hello everyone!

I just joined, and just got banded a week ago, July 17!! I'm pretty excited =D

and I must admit Lapbandtalk helped me decide to go with the banding. I'm really excited about the journy. And it's really great to have a place to look to for support, topics and chit-chat about lapband.

So hello fellow Julybandsters! ;)

jfk and Biggest Loser - welcome to bandland via Dr. K!! I thought he was awesome! I'm glad you had good experiences and are recovering well!

As for Red Lobster...I'm now picturing Red Lobser's around the continent with banded women all eating at the same time and sitting with their laptops at the table to chat with everyone else! Haha! Just a side note...anyone aware that I'm on the coast? King crab here as often as I want! In the winter it's better becaue you don't need a boat, just a snowmachine, auger, and a crab pot...usually 7-8 king crab a pot! Oh yeah, can't wait for winter!:hungry:

I go away for a softball game and a zillion pages of posts go by...now everyone's in bed. DANG!

G'nite all!

My banding went great today! In fact, I read somebody else's post from today that said they found a hernia that they had to fix first. That is is funny, because the SAME thing happened with me today! Maybe it is more common than we know. The doctor said that it should help with acid reflux problems!

I was pretty miserable right after surgery with the pain in my shoulders and my nausea. Once I got home and took some pain meds. and slept a few hours I began feeling much better. When I was hurting so badly right after surgery I was beginning to wonder what I had been thinking. I am better now and I can definitely attest to the fact that walking around helps with the gas pressure. I feel better after every time I walk.

The barium swallow wasn't as bad as I had imagined. In fact I liked it because it seemed to settle my stomach and I was quite worried about vomiting.

I have 2 and 3 year old daughters and they have been so sweet "taking care" of me. They are good little girls and big helpers! I also have my mom, hubby, best friend, and 2 aunts to help me out over the next few days.

I am glad it is over and I can really get OnMyWay now!

Good luck and lots of prayers to everyone up tomorrow!!

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
