Frustrated, I'm with you, I would love to wear a pair of jeans that didn't have elastic at the waist!!!! It seems like it has been so long!!! They aren't comfortable without it and I fluctuate so much the past 10 years or so that one day to the next, I have no idea what size I will be in!!!!! YIKES!!!! Monday can't come quick enough!

You guys are my new best friends! I am so happy I found this site!

Dream Clothes: Yesterday I was shopping with my daughter (size 4) and we spent an hour in Victoria's Secret. Need I say more? It's not the sexy part--just nice pretty things! The other thing would be waist bands that don't roll!

What am I missing when trying to attach the ticker file to my signature? I keep getting an invalad file message when I try to paste the url.

Pretty things! YES! Most of my clothing is worn to disguise or cover problem areas. My undergarments are built to hold things in, not to look pretty. Pretty is good. I remember pretty! (vaguely)

As for your url, are you pasting it in the right place? It goes in the larger box in "Edit Signature", not the smaller boxes where "Signature Picture" is.

WOW, see what happens when I go to bed early one night. You all come out and play without me!!!

Welcome to all our newbies- hope I get you all- eternity430, kristin07, nevedaspirit, and onmyway. We hae a great group going here and we're all excited to have you join us. Jump on in and enjoy the ride.

Bobberts Mom, hope you're feling better today. I didn't have a hernia repair with surgery, kinda wish I had as insurance would of picked up some of the tab instead of none of it.

Sunshinesonya, chimboree does the calendar and you are on the last copy I printed for the 16th. I believe this correct, let chimboree know if it's not.

dieka32, you had to go there on the clothes!!!! We'll lets see, there are so many, I could post all day long, but I'll put it in short terms to save y'all. I want to be able to wear those low rider shorts and jeans (since this is about all they make these days)and look good in them. I want to dress in sexy lingerie for my DH, and feel good about how I look, not disguisted, and I want to wear tank tops so bad. Am I allowed 3 wishes today?? Ok, I'll stop there.

Mango24 and lindaa, are you still working on the ticker. I'll send you a PM and try to help if you need me too. Just let me know.

Chimboree, you are so beautiful, to me, can't you see. You will find the one. Maybe it is better to find him after your journey, since you'll be finding your 'new'self along the way!!

Dini, what's up with my little sausage today? Haven't seen you post recently. I'm worried about you. Did you get my hug!!! Do I need to send it out again.

Marcy, hows the inlaws? So sorry for you to be dealing with this with surgery so close.

Have we heard from snaggletooth yet? Hope you're well and resting!!

Laurend and wagnerd, I'm jealous. Not that I'm starving here, but I can only have 3 to 4 oz meals and Snacks, including strained creamed Soups, and no vegetables yet, even though I put veggie Soup in the magic bullet and made it liquid so I could drink it.

Indiogirl, I had a hard time quitting smoking also, as I have still smoked 1 or 2 a day. It's hard, but I am still trying to get passed it. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

dmtjet, thanks for the compliment. I just know my step daughters mom probably didn't do anything special for her, so I wanted to make sure she knew it was a special time in her life, even if she didn't want to acknowledge it, and wanted her to know I was ther for her, whatever she needed or would need in the future.

Phyllser, did you put the gas x on your list. You're gonna need it!!!

Hope all the other Lucky 7 are doing great. Still no word from BeefyIrish from Monday, or Abbey from Tuesday. I think we lost them (from the thread.) And what about LWesson from Thursday. Hope all is well with these Lucky 7's. We're still thinking of you.

That's bad news on the weight gain dieka, but the good news is you don't have long to go now until you're banded. :)

My dream piece of clothing? There are so many! lol I think I'd like to get a little black dress and look good in it. Have it drop nicely over my body and not be distorted by any lumps and bumps that shouldn't be there, lol.

I also want to be able to wear jeans or a nice skirt and not have the muffin effect happen. You know, where the roll of fat escapes over the waist band and just hangs there.

Thats Hilarious, I have never herd The Muffin effect!! and I was in the clothing Biz for years!!! my favorite is the Camel toe you now when your stuffed into a pair of pants and your yonie resembles a hoof :)

Wow, I am gone such a short time and had 6 pgs to read. this will take a while to answer.

Marcy, how is everything? Got everything read for the road tomorrow?

Dini, I’m sorry things are strained with you and Adam. I know this is frustrating. Maybe y’all need time with just the 2 of you. Make a date, get a sitter. If things are really bad, though, you know you have all the support here and I know I will listen and support you, whatever you need. Good luck…I will be thinking of you. Where are you? Missing your posts here…{{HUGS}}

Phyl, sounds like you are ready!! I just made a list yesterday of what I need to get. OK, all of you that have had the surgery, what is the 1 or 2 things you are glad you had or wish you had for surgery?

Lynette, yeahhh, you can drive! :whoo:Not being able to is so restricting.

Laurend, glad to see you are doing so well. My cousin had this surg on May 4 and had lost 48 lbs. She could not tolerate the Protein shakes and started with soft foods early as you are. She has done great.

Chimboree, I glad you were able to get all that out. Don’t need it festering in your body while you are working to heal and get healthy. I know what you mean about the availability of good men. You need to get that UTI checked out. They may not do the surgery if you have one on the day of surgery. Please get it taken care of now so nothing is delayed.

Bobberts Mom, you are doing so well. I’m sorry about the pain. I read that walking helps. In fact, everyone is doing so well. This makes me much less nervous about the surg. Now I just want the day to get here.

Welcome Jess SA, eternity430, Mango24, OnMyWay07 and Nevadaspirit. Look forward to getting to know you. Jess, July 10 is my brother’s birthday.

Mommiranda, it is probably the hernia repair that keeps you walking like a cave man. Hang in there and take that pain medicine

Kristin07, congrats on the date. Just keep reading this board. It is full of unbelievable information.

Felicia, I know you are getting excited!! Double check and make sure you have everything you need. You will be sitting on the Losers Bench next week.:biggrin1:

Like OnMyWay07, I want to wear sleeveless shirts, or at least quit wearing overshirts and jackets to camouflage the fat. Who am I kidding? Everyone knows I am fat. Also, sexy undies. I LOVE lingerie.

Indiogirl, 14 tubes of blood??!!?!?!? Are you faint? DO you need a transfusion?? :faint:One think about this surgery is that I feel I have been checked from head to toe. I did not have to go to the cardiologist and I had a colonoscopy earlier this year. Other than that, I share your experience. The colonoscopy is not bad. I don’t remember a thing and I have had many.

Frustrated, Muffin Effect??? I love it. :biggrin1: I would like that too, the jeans and shirt that is.

SunshineSonya, I think I saw your name on the calendar. I will double check. Chimboree will have to update is after all these new additions. Thanks, Chimboree!!!

Beefy Irish, Abbey, LWesson, thinking of you all. Hope everything is going well.

I love all these ladies, everyone of you are so kind and warm to me, and have helped with so much support. Although my estrogen level is peeking, need a little bit of testostrone in this group.

This group is wonderful MEN ask them any questions you can think of, they are very informative.

To answer the screen name question(jdhj861jr) John Daniel Harrington jr , the 861 I hit a pick 3 for 500.00, felt like it was a lucky #.

About my closet, ask my wife she has both of them.

To all the newbies, I'm glad you have found this site, these people are awsome, and to all of you that have been banded and are having some problems, I will pray for a speedy recovery.

It's Saturday(noonish), here at work, catching up, since I have all of next week off, so excited, I leave Gainesvill FL at 10:40, fly to Atlanta, 1 hr layover, fly to monterrey, land 3:15, do all the preop tests and have surgery that night, fly home on thursday, rest the week end, back at work Monday, to give all of you my expeience. Talk to everyone later, Danny

Hi all! I've posted a few times here but not on this thread. My date is July 26th and I'm so excited and scared all at the same time.

But, it will all be worth it if I can live long enough to know and love Grandchildren! (My son is only 12 now....lol)

Oh, and to be able to wear a real belt again! That would be heaven.

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
