It's been a little over a month since I was sleeved and I've only lost 2 lbs in the last 2 weeks. Yes, I know about the stall and I've read up on it a million times but can't find the logic. Why when I dieted on my own did I never hit the stall but now I do? I feel like this was beyond a waste of time. It's frustrating to be on a regular diet that allows carbs and "cheat" days once in awhile and lose more weight than a surgery that has put me at such food restrictions. I seriously am getting depressed. I'm doing everything recommended and nothing. Doesn't seem like I get full like others do and I'm always wanting food, even tho I don't give in. Just wish I could turn back time & rethink my decision. Sorry for the complaining but then again, I need to get it out.

I am feeling the same exact way right now. I was sleeved on 10/22. I stalled at 1 week and haven't lost a pound since. Thinking I made a huge mistake. I just think I'm one of those people for which it didn't work. I hit the weight I have never been able to lose past.

You have to think of it this way. Your body has basically been "starving" the last few weeks. Now that it is getting some fuel it's going to hold on to it for a little bit. You know in case of another fuel shortage.

For some of us the weight loss is very slow-I stopped weighing myself daily as I would feel depressed and I now weigh myself weekly or when I notice that I am feeling slimmer.

I think when I remain the same that it was better than before when I would put on a pound and think well thats not bad!

Now remaining the same or losing a pound is wonderful.

If you stick to the plan you will loose weight

I feel the same way also. I have lost 1 pound in 1 week. Total 35. I am feeling discouraged and frustrated. Thanks for the comments. I do feel "slimmer" and people are noticing I "have lost a lot of weight". Persevere. We can do this!

Instant gratification doesn't happen for everyone. You didn't make a huge mistake. Your body is going through a lot of changes. Let time take its course and you will see results. Remember that you also need to exercise. You will lose weight without it, but if your not exercising your not going to lose weight as fast.

The human body is not designed to thrive on 500-600 calories per day. If your intake is anywhere near that, you need more calories. I don't think a lot of people realize that if you force your body to function on 600 calories a day, it will comply....... by decreasing your metabolism to a standstill (stall) and refusing to budge. In the long run, you'll end up gaining weight at a normal caloric intake. Don't do that to yourself.

Your body needs balance, which includes fat and carbs. Balance your meals, eat the Protein first, increase your calories, and drink more Water. Also, you didn't indicate if you know for certain whether you are meeting daily Protein goals. If you are not, that alone can cause a stall and cause your hair to fall out. Count your protein, not the fat, and eyeball the carbs. Supplement your foods with unflavored Protein powder if you need to. You can do this. Surgery is done, there's no going back. What you are doing is not working and I would be in tears out of frustration. Stop regimenting your food so much. Change it up but still follow the protein first rule, and stay off of the scale!

Get out a pair of pants that are 1-2 sizes too small and start using that as a measure of progress. Before you know it, you'll be able to fit them. It will happen. You didn't make a mistake, just hang in there. Hugs to you.

so, you think you should be different than everyone else and not have the stall? Have you ever went that many days in a row with very little/no calorie intake? Have you ever shocked your body with major surgery? Add in some patience and ability to understand that this stall is normal and the only thing you can do is ride it out. Be thankful you haven't gained weight because a lot of folks do... me included. Now look where I am.

I think I'm going to try your JEANS idea. .matter of fact I'm going in there to get them right now . Got a brand new pair of Levis about 2 years ago at good will...still haven't gotten into then but have held onto them. .which is weird cuz i dint hold onto anything except weight lol. I'm still pre op btw.. 291 this morning. .haven't been able to hit that number for months.

In no way have I compared myself to others' weight losses or stalls. I am comparing my current weight loss with my previous attempts. Yes, I have been calorie-restricted before as surgery was not my first weight loss attempt but as I stated, I never stalled. I'm aware that everyone is different so I have no intention of comparing myself to Jill, Sarah, Bob, or Steve. I'm simply venting that I'm frustrated because I -as of right now- feel I was more successful dieting on my own. And after reading threads, it's a little comforting to know others are having the same issue thus letting me know I'm not broken or a failure. Thanks for the comment though. I have a pair that I bought that I refused to get rid of because I felt that if I bought jeans that were too small and then decided later on to give a way, I was basically accepting my weight as is and was settling on it being a long term lifestyle. I think it's time to pull them out and use it as my short term goal. I try to measure myself since I know that even tho a scale may not budge, inches may. However, I'm completely not coordinated enough to get the tape around me. I always seems to twist it up or drop it ☺️

@@christina1979, consider this. If you are working out consistently, a good 300 of the calories you are eating get burned up with exercise. If your daily intake is only 500-600 calories, you are forcing your body to thrive on a net 300 calories or so per day. Weight loss is not going to happen that way. Your body will continue to hang out right where it is because you need more caloric intake.

Get rid of that scale and break out those jeans! Once per week, attempt to try them on and you will be amazed. One day you will wake up and they'll just slide right on. We're here for you, and you can do this!!

I feel the exact same way. I have lost the weight in the past and I steadily lost 3 - 4 pounds when keeping my calories low and exercising. I didn't pay any attention to Water intake or Protein grams and I steadily lost for 3 months or so. I've tried the same thing and I lost 2 pounds in a month.

I recently went back to a liquid diet for a few days and then cut my carbs and calories down to around 500 and I've started losing again. Just hoping it stays that way.

      On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
      Soooo I am coming to a realization
      of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

        Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

        Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

        I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

        I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

        BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

      Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
