finished everything October 23 with surgeon. Had to have a pre approval clearance with the PCP. finished and dropped off Oct. 28. Kept calling my Insurance to see if papers had been received. The reply was NO sorry....so called my surgeon3 times before I could get a real person on the phone. Was told today they have 4-6 weeks to submit and get approval back and then wait for the surgeon.... Probably the end of January but more likely February and depending how long the insurance takes the end of February. Started the process with them in June. Insurance required a 3 month diet which got prolonged another month due to an uncooperative co worker.(didn't like who they were putting in my office to cover me) I am to be married in April and wanted so badly to look attractive and to be able to walk down to the wedding (on the beach) without huffing and puffing.... guess that aint gonna happen. About just to give up!!!

I think you need to put your foot down. What!!? That have 4 - 6 weeks to submit?! Ahh NO! You want it sent in immediately. Keep bugging them every day until it's sent in.

I have never heard of this! My last appointment for supervised diet is December 11th. I actually wanted to wait and submit to insurance the first of January that they advised against it just in case we need to appeal. I agree, call or go up there to demand they expedite your submission!!!

Agree. Call them back or go down there and explain that you need the papers submitted asap. Be nice about it but firm, ask them for help and explain about your wedding coming up. Make them want to help you.

Absolutely need to force the issue with them and get it submitted to insurance now. There is no reason to wait 4-6 weeks to submit. Why would they even do that? Do you have any other surgeons in the area you could possibly switch to ?

Agreed !!! My was suppose to submit the in my last appointment. I was told insurance would take up to 4 weeks to approve. 4 weeks later I had no answers. I called my insurance on my own n found out that the doc office never submitted.

After 2 long calls with my insurance they recommended that we call the doctors together. I did a conference call with the insurance and the docs office and the insurance person requested they fax directly while we were on the phone n then asked them to stay on the phone until they had the paperwork. They confirmed receipt before we hung up!

I said very little n let the insurance person do all the taking so it was coming from them. I had an approval in 4 days after that and surgery 3 1/2 weeks later .

Good luck!!!

the only other surgeon is 45 minutes away and they say I would have to start from scratch with them which starts with an hour long seminar and then they schedule an appointment with doctor and it continues again. He will not take what the other office has done. Story of my life unfortunately, just another punch in the gut ( no pun attended) So started my liquid diet today and will continue until the end of the month. Cancelled Thanksgiving dinner. Will sign off this site and hope for the best. I had met my deductible this year and since Obamacare is in effect my deductible has gone up so will be unable to afford the surgery. I wish you all the best luck and success as I know you guys can do this for your health. Love and peace out!!

Ok, if your insurance requires 3 NUT visits, you started your process in June which means your first NUT visit was in either June or July...(lets just say July) July to Aug - 1 mo. Aug to Sept - 2 mo. Sept to Oct - 3 mo. (you had to skip a mo. due to co-worker) Oct to Nov. - 4th mo and another 30 days later you were supposed to meet with surgeon again which would make it Dec. ...it only takes ABOUT 15 days to get paperwork in and get approval from Insurance...so your surgery should be scheduled end of Dec. beginning of Jan.

Keep pushing..someone is dropping the ball and not doing something right!!

If not..you have record of the NUT visits, go to another surgeon and they will get you right in with all your records done already.

Good Luck!!

Sorry to hear you are going thru such hurdles...it is hard enough to decide to do this! I think you need to continue making phone calls, stay on the "3 month" diet, and all will work out. The key is not to give up. Call them every day if you have to!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
