3 weeks post op and feel no restriction

Recommended Posts

I will be 3 weeks post op on wed and I feel no restriction from my sleeve yet . Is this normal? I feel I can drink as much as I want, when I eat my shakes or creamy Soups I never get a full feeling. Has anyone else experienced this ?

I've heard people on here say u will feel the restriction when u start eating more solid foods. liquids flow easier through the sleeve.

I didn't feel any restriction on liquids. When I went to puree, I started feeling restriction depending on what I ate. eggs gave me a lot of restriction but cottage cheese doesn't fill me up at all. Now that I'm eating ground turkey and beef, I really feel it. At 6 weeks, I'm at around 2 oz.

I had rny and feel the same way, I feel like I could eat normal but of course I don't try it. I'm only eating very soft things. Scrambled egg and cottage cheese is probably as far as I push it right now. I'm almost 2 weeks out.

I am also 3 weeks post op with the same lack of feeling " full". I am trying to make sure I stick to 4oz at time to make sure it isn't a result of the incision that severed nerves that need time to heal.

I am one week and one day post op today and was talking with Gail my patient coordinator from the hospital, I love her. I was concerned with how much I was getting down a day. I am getting in all my Protein and my Water, grant it it will take me about an hour or so do finish a shake but I'm doing it. I guess I am feeling full since I am not feeling hungry? If that makes sense?

Gail says I am doing just great and to keep doing what I am doing. She also said like other that have posted when you start eating more dense foods you will feel fuller faster and not be able to get as much down,.

I have decided to be extremely happy with my progress and thank my lucky stars!!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
