Making a shopping list for the grocery store can help you make sure you get the healthy foods you need to stick to your weight loss diet. It also keeps you from wandering around the store and being tempted by the unhealthy foods that are there. Do you make a shopping list?

I do keep a running list on the refrigerator as things come up so on the weekends we know what to get. However when I get to the store I suddenly remember a hundred other things we need. It's so strange the way that happens...

I have a running list on the fridge, too. And once a week (or every two weeks) I plan out dinner menus for the next however many days and add to the list whatever I need to make those meals.

I keep a list on my phone that I add to as I run out or need stuff. I move it forward day to day until I actually do the shopping.

I too keep a list on paper as I start to run out of things. It obviously helps me to not forget items and it also helps me to avoid things that shouldn't be in the house. I did that whenever I was on a diet as well.

However...I never wrote down Ring Dings or chips on my lists no matter whether I was watching my intake or not. It was just a mind game I played with myself though. If I didn't write it down, then I could say I wasn't planning to eat all that crap. Truth is I always planned on eating it.

So again I'll ask how can the medical community not see this as an addiction?

I make a list with some items. I keep it open so I can focus on sales and what looks good.

I keep a list on my phone.... I like to delete the items once it's in my cart. If it's not on the list it doesn't go in my shopping cart.

Since I have mobility issues, my boyfriend (who is also the cook in the house) does the marketing. He is very supportive and has my back, so nothing comes in the house that would be an issue for me. As I run out of staples, I add it to the fridge list. If I think of something new I want to test for tolerance with my sleeve, we discuss the best way to prepare it, then he shops accordingly.

The list is in my head. Sometimes if I am making something special I will write them down either in my phone's sticky note program or on paper, but most of the time I buy the same stuff every week. Yogurt, chicken breasts, fruits and veggies. coffee, milk, eggs. cheese. Maybe I'm kinda boring?

I only go shopping when I'm low on staples (milk, eggs, Protein Bars, yogurt, 1/2 and 1/2, nuts, jerky). Once I'm there I get those things and then wander around, looking for what looks good or is on sale.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
