Where are the November Sleevers?

Recommended Posts

Yes, I had the sleeve 11/3. The post op plan was basically:

Week 1 - Clear Liquids

Week 2 - full liquids

Week 3 - puree

Week 4 - soft foods

Week 5 - add back normal foods one at a time to gauge tolerance

However, post op plans vary widely surgeon to surgeon so make sure you follow what your surgeon told you! It's better to be safe than sorry.

Oh yes, definitely! Its a struggle but I'm definitely going to be sticking to it lol. Thank you though

Here's my diet that I was given to follow. I've seen others that seem so much more strict. post-238573-14167988640287_thumb.jpg post-238573-14167988767386_thumb.jpg post-238573-14167988856999_thumb.jpg

Week 6-8 is basically adding meat

And week 9 is a regular diet trying new things one at a time

Then again I had my surgery in Mexico so I'm a little more on my own. Thankfully I've had no complications or food intolerances but I've been super careful and pay a lot of attention to my body and how I feel.

Same here - surgery in Mexico. Pure Water has been the only thing that I would say has given me any trouble so far. I can drink it, but it causes a whole lot of rumbling and gurgling so I've been sticking with vitaminwater for now.

We want to know how you are doing.

Sorry I have not been posting much. I'm doing great. Drinking plenty of fluids. Pretty tired of the diet. I'm not going to eat any. meats etc. so I'm pretty limited to yogurt and cottage cheese and cream Soups. And I'm supposed to be eating the healthy request cream soups but they r disgusting. So a few times I have eaten a thin slice of my sons lunchmeat to get my Protein in. I really like the Unjury shake i'm almost out and it took almost a week to get my order last time. So I'm going to have to get creative. I can drink the flavorless in my crystal light but drinking protein does not feel the same on the stomach as yogurt or something more solid.

I've seen lots of diets where people are already eating soft foods so I don't feel that bad but I'm trying my hardest to stick to the liquids another two weeks. I was going to go back to work this week but it was my son's birthday and conference week so he got out early all week and I've actually been sleeping a lot! I really took it easy this week. I would take him to school and come home and vegetate for two hours before I had to go back and get him. I also went to bed with him several nights and slept until he had to get up for school in the morning which was 10 hour nights. Sleeping more than 5 to 6 hours is almost unheard of for me so I just decided to relax the rest of the week.

I've lost 22 pounds. Probably would be even more if I would've been exercising this week but I've just been doing walking. I go back to work tomorrow i'm going to take two walks one in the morning one in the afternoon. So we will see if I can stick out a whole day. I have a lot of work to do. Just happy will probably get to go home early Wednesday and then I'm off again until Monday hallelujah!

My bowels are normal. The only thing I'm having a hard time with is making sure that I take the Vitamins after I've eaten so they don't make me sick. The Vitamin regimen Kaiser want to follow is ridiculous but I'm doing my best for now.

Hope you're doing well!

And I'm supposed to be eating the healthy request cream Soups but they r disgusting.

Lots of cream soups are kinda gross since I don't think they're really intended to be eaten alone. I've found the best tasting soups are cream based ones that I have to strain things out of (potato, bacon, chicken, etc.). They have a lot more flavor.

I'm so over being on full liquids, but I have until 11/30 before I get to move to pureed foods. :(

I am so happy to hear I am not the only one getting tired of full liquids! I am on full liquids until at least 12/1 and I just want to chew something. Other than being tired of my food choices I am doing surprisingly well. Tomorrow is 2 weeks since surgery and I can get all of my fluids in and have no problems drinking. It is still a struggle to get enough Protein everyday, but I keep trying to improve my protein intake every day. I am scheduled for an upper GI on Wednesday because I when I lay down the acid backs all the way up my esophagus and it feels like there is nothing stopping it. I am talking pain like I have never felt in my life. The pain was so bad I was sweating, pale, and on the verge of passing out from it. I had to convince my husband not to call an ambulance and that I wasn't dying. So I have yet to sleep in my bed because I do not want to ever have a repeat performance of that acid burn. I like my recliner and it is comfortable, but I just want my bed back! Keep up the good work everyone! I am so proud of you all!

Hi Sheena. I went back to work 10 days after surgery. I did that because I only have two weeks paid sick time off. If I had to do it all over again I would've taken at least two more weeks off. I was tired and felt drained which surprised me because I have a desk job. I thought I could do it but it wasn't good. By the time I got home from working 8 hours I could barely stay OUT of bed, let alone cook dinner and spend time with my family. Honestly it was rough the first 3 weeks after surgery for me. I know everyone is different, this was just my experience. I am now on solid foods, 5 weeks post-op and it has gotten a whole lot better. Make sure u get all your Vitamins, liquids and Protein in after surgery. It is very hard to get it all in with your small new belly but it's key in helping you feel half-way back to your normal self sooner than later.

Thank you for your reply! I'm hoping the 10 days I have scheduled will be enough... I also have a desk job. I have a crazy week the first week um back and then I am taking 5 days off for Christmas time then I'll work for 2 days and have another 5 days off. So hopefully after my holiday rush the time I take off after will allow me to recover.

Thanks again for your input!

Sheena :-)

My post op diet is fairly similar except each stage lasts 2 weeks and then when at the normal diet, slowly integrate meats and harder to digest food.< /p>

Hang in there. The same thing has happened to me. My doctors assured me this is common. They gave me pain meds, steroids, nausea meds and Pepcid intravenously along with IV fluids. I feel great! I feel so much better. Please hang in there. We are here to encourage and support you thru this time.

My sleeve experience was not what I was expecting. I had to stay in the hospital for 4 days after surgery, due to elevated heart rate and blood pressure. It was a side affect of anesthesia. I am home and enjoying my bed. Everyday it gets better. I am learning to eat with my new stomach. I can't seem to know when I am hungry or full from drinking liquids. I am so happy to be sleeved. Ready for the lbs to shed.

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
