I am a very slow loser and it's making me so upset!! I started surgery (Jully 22nd) at 310. Now two months out I weigh 280. I'm beyond frustrated. A ton of people I know have already lost 50 pounds two months post op and I'm only at 30 :(

Perhaps you cold think about how it would have been had you not made this change. You are 50 pounds lighter! Awesome!

Don't cheat yourself. You are doing something right, and the hard work will pay off. Stay strong. Stay true to course.

I think if you lose slower there will be less lose skin later .,. Maybe???

Keep positive. Keep up the hard work.

My surgery was July 23. I have only lost 34 pounds. I'm slow at losing too. I am just doing my best to stay on track. Keep working on my Protein and Water. At least I am going down and not up. I do have a lot of problems with my Vitamins. I can't seem to get all of them in. The Calcium is so bad! We can do this we have come to far to give up now.! Plus you have to feel better, I do.

My surgery Ctr support group told me to count my blessings the weight is coming off slow and steady. Because with exercise and slow and steady weight loss, skin issues will be minimal. Yahoo!!

I had a huge loss my first week post-op (22 pounds) and only a couple of pounds since then. I have been feeling fairly discouraged today, but am trying to remind myself that slow and steady wins the race when it comes to weight loss.

Sorry I didn't see all your comments until now. I've been stalled at 270 for a whole month. I know I should count my blessings, and I honestly do, I just feel like the slowest loser in the world. I keep being terrified that I'm done losing weight and that I'll never make it to "onederland". How are y'all doing?! Updates please!

I'm ok my weight loss is moving slow 295 for two weeks. I was reading that maybe we need to up / lower our calories. This may help. We will get to our onederland.

Hello diamond girl

I'm so glad you feel this way too ! I had my surgery 2 weeks ago and only lost 6 pounds and am wondering why it isn't coming off quicker !? Do you think we are going something wrong ? Xx

I had my surgery three weeks ago. I have only lost nine pounds. I am exercising every day. Taking in plenty of fluids. I am a little discouraged too..

My weight loss was a bit slower at the beginning but once I hit the 4-5 week mark the weight started coming off pretty quickly. The above poster is correct- make sure you are getting enough calories in daily. For me, my focus is on Water then Vitamins then Protein. I also make sure I get about 70 grams of Protein in daily. I also watch my carbs closely. I know there are other discussions about eating too few carbs, but this has worked for me. At meals I focus on protein and eat a few edamame. The only fruit I eat at this point are berries - blueberries, strawberries, or raspberries. No potatoes, no rice, no oats no wheat of any kind, no sugar, etc.

A normal meal is about 2-3 oz of meat (turkey, chicken, or pork)

A sauce made from Greek Yogurt with either spicy mustard or wing sauce, etc. (Nothing with added sugar)

A few edamame

A couple of spoonfuls of cottage cheese

A few berries

This plan has worked really well for me. I figured I needed to be really strict for the first 6 months since this is the fastest period for weight loss. Now, 4 months post-op, I usually loose (I think because I only weigh myself every 3 weeks) about 2-3 lbs. per week.

Best of luck!

Please remember...this isn't a race. This is a marathon. We've all done the fad diets, "eat this today and lose 10 pounds overnight", only to gain 15 the next day. Please don't be so critical of yourselves. The losses will come. Today, tomorrow, next week, next month...and believe me it all adds up. We aren't competing with each other. We aren't even competing with ourselves and previous diets. This is our new life. One day at a time, with a smile on our face, knowing that we made the right decisions to give us the optimal chance at a healthy life. Love yourself, love your decision, and enjoy the stroll. :)

My Calcium and Vitamins are my treat of the day...chewable from GNC...guess we all need to keep sharing and learning until we see what works for us. My problem is still the protein...gag

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
