Not one bite to eat... The head games are stronger than ever. I need to just chew something. Almost over..... I think I can, I think I can, I think I can. :)

I planned poorly today and did not have a shake or extra Water handy. Returned home to finish up making dinner and simply had to eat some food... Two weeks post op tomorrow. So, I chewed and spit most out in the sink twice. However, I did eat some chicken, chewing it up real good. No damage other than berating myself for poor planning.

The first time I tried to eat a bite of anything it was Jello (sprinkled my meds on it) at about 10 days. Gagged so hard I had a huge anxiety attack and thought I was gonna die. I was scared to eat after that. But ate poached egg at 16 days and did fine. It's ok now. The head hunger has been defeated by knowing the consequences of eating too much or too fast. Learned the hard way.

I was sleeved on Tuesday and surprised at how little pain I had...other than the gas which was horrible! As for food I have to say I don't think I realized how serious my issues with food were until now. Just knowing that it's not physically possible that I'm hungry so whatever agony I'm in is totally head hunger and it's pretty intense. I've got another 14 days of Clear liquids and so far the issues I'm having the most are:

1. Keeping up with my Fluid. I'm pretty sure I'm dehydrated but it's rough. Feels like drinking is my job now. lol

2. Being around other people who are eating. My boyfriend has been amazing but he can't pretend he doesn't eat forever.

I know I should be over the moon ecstatic that this thing I've wanted for so long has finally happened but for some reason I just feel...blah. Anyone else experiencing this?

On the plus side...I'm down 16 pounds from my in hospital weight (which was about 6 pounds higher than my pre-op weight...I chalk it up to Fluid and gas)

Charm, I think maybe "anticlimactic" is how I would describe my blah... There is so much build up, but there is also a lot of work ahead for me, so it feels daunting. What a nice boyfriend you have, keeping food temptations low! Continued good recovery

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
